What can I do when people are so cruel?

Anonymous
I am trying hard to lose weight, but it's really hard when people are criticizing me when I am out exercising. I usually go on walks, and when I approach an intersection I get people laughing and making comments. These are usually guys who are in their early 20's and mostly male. I was walking today and there were guys staring at me and lauging. Some have made comments like "want a ride? Sorry no one over 300lbs!" Which I have never been over 200lbs until recently.

Now I realize I need to lose weight, I don't need someone to tell me that. I am about 220-225, and about 5'6". I am looking to lose about 40lbs and then re-assess my plan after that to alter it to my then current needs and see how much more I will want to lose. I have to be very careful too because I have a thyroid issue and I have had it thrown off before with weight loss.

But how can I stay motivated when I am constantly being ridiculed?

I'll admit, I am pretty ashamed of the weight gain. But I don't feel as though I should have to endure the harassment I receive. At least I am trying to do something about it.
