Men get hate the same way. Along with being muscular. I don't know what planet you're from but men actually get a shit ton of pressure on their weight and body as well
It's pretty simple, really. Guys value attractiveness in girls a lot. A LOT! So much so that we'll overlook a lot of shortcomings if a girl is sufficiently hot. So there's a big return for women in the dating market for being hot.
Turns out MOST girls don't put nearly as much emphasis on a guys looks as the other way around. That ISN'T to say that women don't care about looks--just that they also care a lot about other aspects of a man such as how much money he has, what his level of education and career ambition are, how tall he is, etc. So for a guy it doesn't pay as much to be hotter as it does for a girl. So we don't do it. We DO however do things like kill ourselves at school and work because we know that doing so improves our dating prospects. So it's not like we aren't responding to the incentives you ladies are putting out there as well.

Because you know that your looks are more important in your value as a woman. That is the reality of human nature.
Men know that their income is more important in their value as a man. That is the reality of human nature.
This is the core reason why men earn more money than women... because they know their value as a man depends on it, and women don't have that pressure. And it's why women spend so much more time and energy on trying to look their best... because they know their value as a woman depends on it.
This is also the reason why women are most desirable to men at age 18 and decline from there, while men are most desirable at age 50.
I know all of that is not politically correct, but it's reality.
Women tend to be much more sensitive to peer pressure and social manipulation, and companies, along with other men and women, take advantage of that, usually to sell a product that takes advantage of women's insecurities. Women's fear is a very sought after political resource. Keep that in mind next time you see an ad of any kind.
For most of my life, I was always fit and healthy. I went through a period where I "gave up on life" and stopped exercising and eating healthy. I would go to fast-food three times a day and I loved it! I gained over 100 pounds but no one said anything negative to me. Some people said, "You're not overweight - you're just husky." Eventually, I lost that 100 pounds. It is interesting how men can get away with being overweight while women get lots of negativity when overweight.
Well, each gender/sex has its own initial struggle that society tackles us on for women it's always been looking prettier and thinner and for men, it's always been being taller and physique. I wish we could break those cycles but sadly the world will always see those as ideal looks.
Women have the pressure to stay thin because of advertising and the way the media portrays women. Society sees women with certain traits as more attractive I guess.
This goes both ways as men are preferred to be muscular and lean just as women are expected to be thin. The media has a large part in this too.
These both are largely influenced by the opinions of the opposite sex as these determine how likely an individual is to find a mate.
The pressure is not on us to stay thin. But it is on us to be ripped and toned. Its also on us to be tall, cause if we aren't tall we are treated like we are a virus
Guys have it too, they just typically don't care about societal pressures as much as women. In fact fat women are accepted and called "Beautiful" in the modern world, but fat men are considered Lazy, and disgusting, so technically there's MORE pressure on men to be in shape.
It depends on the society. In the USA midwest and south there is a double standard. In New Zealand (where I am from) and in California it is just as important to be thin.
I am sure in Europe aswell.
I think the reason middle america has the double standard is simply because bad eating habits are encouraged.
Guys have it too. I have a six pack and punch of muscle overweight all year long for many years now.
Goes both ways, i would like mt girlfriend to be in shape, well then i better do the same. Besides then we both have energy to do active stuff together.
It’s easier for a woman to stay slim because of fat distribution, but men have to work out to look good because thin men are not the same attractiveness as thin women.
Because men find thin women attractive. Women find bigger (not fat) men attractive. As a man with a 6pack its honestly more of a party trick attention grabber than what i think women actually prefer. I get way more compliments on big arms than 6pack. And girls i date say that if my arms were even bigger even from being a little fatter it would be hotter than the 6pack id lose. So there's that.
I think men have wayy more pressure to be thin then women. There are lots of thin and heavy set guys that love heavyset girls, but there are also lots of thin guys that don’t too. Versus many thin women and some heavy set women (which I think is kind of hypocritical) that I’ve known don’t prefer heavy set guys. I know this sounds harsh but it’s the truth it’s very very hard to find a thin woman that prefers a heavy set man.
Women aren't pressured to be thin, they're pressured to be curvy and healthy looking. Women who are a size 0 are typically bullied for it and called anorexic all the time. Fat men are picked on as well, even if it's not as much as fat women, being fat is just socially unacceptable altogether.
It’s because of men. Health aside, some men like women to be as small as possible so they can feel more powerful or whatever.
I’m losing weight too, & while I want a nice body, I don’t care that much about being skinny. The men I date don’t care that much either. I ignore the ones that do. Such a stress relief.
If you think men aren't pressured to achieve a desired body, you would be mistaken. Except, as opposed to being thin, we're expected to be muscular if not outright cut. It's just what it is, and with the advent of social media it's not going anywhere.
You can thank the fashion industry, in part. You can also thank the misinformation machinery and mindfucking advertising that goes on as well, PLUS the fact that the world is basically a patriarchy. I probably don't need to elaborate on the "how's and why's", do I?

Just mostly see talk with women

Not really. Curvy with slim waist is in. If that were true there wouldn't be many with eating disorders and any social pressure.
Also I had many body shame me

Exactly! Women can gain weight in their breasts or butt and still look good. A fat guy is just seen as a slob.
@MCheetah fat women with small breasts exist
@shortgirlsweet Fat women will still be desired over fat men.

I dont try with handsome men because I wouldn't be their ideal.
Well i mean a lot of men dont try with hot girls because they aren't muscular.
I'm ideal

are you joking?
Women hate fat men. Curvy women are now classed as sexy. But you won't see a woman compliment a slightly overweight man.
I'm a guy and I believe that I have a responsibility towards my future wife to remain as fit and as physically attractive as possible.
It is a sign of respect to your SO. It has nothing to do with gender.
Male or female, both are expected to remain in shape so long as they can do it.
