When you cook your meals, package the leftovers into meal sized tupperwares. Then you won't overeat. Also, get rid of any bad foods you shouldn't eat. If they aren't around, you can't eat the food.
If it's your roommate's food, make yourself feel bad about stealing her food so you don't go there. Also, put a pic of your goal body on the fridge so you'll be reminded every time you want just one more snack. Basically, every time you say no to a certain food it gets easier. I went vegetarian an this is true for me. Another trick I've used is to keep a elastic band on my wrist and snap it against myself if I'm craving something unhealthy. If you don't like that idea, count from 1 to 100 silently in your head and by then the craving has usually passed.
Buy a goal outfit that is really nice but too small for you. Hang it up where you can see it and work hard to finally fit into it. Try it on periodically. Also record your measurements and weight weekly to track progress.
Hold yourself accountable to exercise schedules like you you have to attend and be on time for class. Also log all the food you eat in a day. If you have to write it down it'll make you wonder whether you really need to eat "blank". One last tip is to find someone with similar goals and motivate each other to stay on track. Then If you slack of you're letting someone else down too. Hope this helps!

When I was going through with a weight loss regimen (diet + exercise) about 5 years ago I put a picture of a morbidly obese person on my refrigerator. And I put a picture of a gorgeous woman in a bikini where I keep my running shoes and shorts. You could do the same, well, with a guy though (assuming you're straight). It helped me stick to the diet since that pic would put me off of eating, and I liked looking at the picture so I was drawn to my exercise stuff. Behavioral conditioning - it's what's for breakfast.
i lost weight by not setting a goal. I just ate less and a little healthier.if you try to starve yourself it won't work. Ease yourself into better habits. When you eat a little less at a time your stomache gets used to it and shrinks. So then it expects less food so you feel fuller faster. And seeing the results was enough for me to keep it up. Plus I love excersize. Makes me feel great so that also helped me. If you think its boring or too hard excersize with a friend or do an activity you enjoy.
