- 80 push-ups in 2 minutes.
- 80 sit-ups in 2 minutes.
- 15 pull-ups in one set.
- 1 mile run in 6 minutes 30 seconds or less.
- 1 km swim in 20 minutes or less.
- 12 mile march with a 45 pound backpack in 3 hours or less.
+1 yHell no. I think I could do the march due to years of traveling on foot wherever I go (never owned a car, never felt the need for one) and hiking for most of my life. Might need a bit of a warm up period, but I do think I could do that. Swimming is a maybe. I'm a good swimmer but I'm not good at pacing myself so I think I use to do a quarter to half of that but because I could never pace myself I would be half dead by the time I was done. If I could just pace myself I think I would have a chance (though its still iffy. Just as likely to get half way through and then just drown (again, pacing was always my issue with swimming, it was all or nothing).

+1 yI can do 80 push-ups but I'll need more than 2 minutes.
Yes, I can do 80 sit-ups in 2 minutes.
I've done 15 pull-ups in one set before, I might be able to pull it off again.
My 1 mile run takes me more than 9 minutes.
Yes, I can swim a km in 20 minutes or less.
12 mile march with a 45 pound backpack? Forget it!12 Reply- +1 y
Thanks @Physics-Man for the other MHGirl. :)

Any female that can even do one pull-up is pretty impressive in my book, as I don't think most can.
+1 yThe march would be the only thing I'd even come kind of close to passing. But honestly I'd be pretty surprised if I could even do that. 12 miles in 3hrs sure... with a 45lb pack, I'd be doubtful.

It's not really that hard; if you train for it a couple times you would be sure to pass. If you have a decent fitness level to start, and did this:
Day 1: Hike 5 miles (no time limit, just pace yourself to go at 80%-90% of what you feel is your max)
Day 2 recover
Day 3: Hike 8 miles (same parameters as previous hike)
Day 4 recover
Day 5: Hike 8 miles (same as Day 3)
Take the weekend to recover, and take the test at the start of the next week. Doing those three warm up hikes would not only increase your stamina, the really important part is they would give you an idea of how to push hard without burning yourself out; hiking at an optimum pace.
The other part about these tests is they do them on flat ground to make sure they are consistent for all tests. This is a huge factor and makes it a lot easier than elevation changes. Though tbh, I would prefer a hike UP, with some appropriate time adjustments; hiking up a mountain just feels more natural to me.

+1 yI polled in at 5, because I don't know my mile time, or what a 6 and a half minute mile is like. I don't run because in all the years of being an athlete, I've tried over and over to get into running, but it always feels wrong. I'm fine with muscle pain and soreness, or working my lungs hard, and I've pushed myself so hard for so long in other workouts like hiking that I've vomited from adrenaline overload. But running gives me bone pain and joint pain, like I'm damaging my joints and bones, and those are not parts of the body that build like muscle.
A mile is a pretty short distance, however, and I have good stamina and health from other activities like playing soccer and hiking, so I'm guessing I could do a 6:30 mile.
Fire does a "pack test" for 3 miles with either 40-45 lb. I forget what the maximum allowed time is, but there's also a minimum allowed time (they don't want you hiking too fast), and on a couple occasions I have been told to wait short of the finish line because I was too far ahead of the minimum time. It sounds like the special ops test is also on flat ground so it would be a breeze; the only thing making it difficult would be the weather. Hiking 12 miles in 65F is a lot different than 12 miles in 102F.
I've done a 5km swim in under 2 hours, pull-ups I'm at 17, but could get to 20 with a little more frequency, pushups and situps those are both reasonable numbers. The whole test would definitely make for a tiring day!10 Reply - 708 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic.
+1 y- 80 push-ups in 2 minutes - Maybe not two minutes, but I'll get them done!
- 80 sit-ups in 2 minutes - Yeah, I can handle that!
- 15 pull-ups in one set- Not without some assistance (my pull ups need work)
- 1 mile run in 6 minutes 30 seconds or less- Heck yeah! Easy
- 1 km swim in 20 minutes or less- Never tried it, but I'm sure I could
- 12 mile march with a 45 pound backpack in 3 hours or less- Yeah, no problem!
Overall, I'm not in Special Ops shape, but I think I AM in decent shape; give me that much. I'd be willing to try it just for the challenge.

Pull ups are tough for females, but with your positive attitude and a little training I'm sure you could get to where you were at a point where you could pass at least all the other tests. And good on you for adopting healthy habits, I'm glad it feels so great for you!
- +1 y
PS I don't know if your gym has it, but there a great machine where you can do assisted pull-ups, it takes a portion of your weight to make them easier. I can do pull-ups without it, but I still use it to do higher reps to failure and it's a great tool.
35 to 40 years ago I could have passed the pullups and the 1 mile run, but I was never good with pushups, sit-ups, or swimming.
I'd probably have fallen somewhere just agonizingly short on the loaded march.
These days, I'm lucky if I can stand up straight for more than a couple of minutes.
The last few years have taken their toll on my body.
How about you?
I'm betting you can do them all.
I once knew a guy who was pretty fit and tough, who took a fireman's entrance fitness test to try to become a fireman.
I don't remember the particulars of what he said he was supposed to accomplish, but he said it kicked his ass.10 Reply80 push-ups in 2 minutes.
I can do about 30 in 30 seconds, I can get myself to do it in a month maybe
80 sit-ups in 2 minutes.
Can do it already
15 pull-ups in one set.
Can do only 10
1 mile run in 6 minutes 30 seconds or less.
ran 540m (one third of a mile) full sprint in 1 minute 48 seconds. I'll need at least a month of training here
1 km swim in 20 minutes or less.
This one will need real work. I'm nowhere near swimming 1km in 20 mins
12 mile march with a 45 pound backpack in 3 hours or less.
This one needs training too. Best I did was about 6 miles carrying H&C G3 rifle and full personal equipment in about an hour. Oh the sweet army days.
overall I find this test fascinating and I want to get myself to pass it one day.10 ReplyI don't know if I could do 80 push ups at all xD, but if I could I'd need more than 2 minutes I think
Yeah, I can do 200 sit-ups at once, meaning 80 in 2 mins is ez pz.
Pull-ups, I think I could do max 12 or 13, 15 no chance (for now)
If I remember correctly, I needed 8 minutes for 2 400meters, and 1 mile is 1 600 meters, so I suppose I could do it.
20 minutes is a lot of time, so I believe I could do it :D
And yeah, I could do the marching ez pz.10 Reply
+1 yAdmittedly , not now. Passed P- Company , British Army Para Selection back in 1990 , which was not far off. Test Week was a killer !! SAS / SBS Selection is a whole new , and much harder level. Pathfinder Platoon , with the Parachute Regiment / 5 Airborne Brigade as it was then , is in-between Para & Special Forces level , pretty much special ops role , deep reconnaissance and Drop Zone marking is their main role

+1 yI've passed all these events at one time or another over the past few years. Can i pass all 6 today though? Im not sure. These are specific tests that require specific training to pass. You could be fit asf but if you dont actually practice these specific tests you will fail.
20 ReplyNo I couldn´t pass any of those. Though the march sounds achieveable I don´t know if I have ever lifted up 45 pounds in my life. So I would need time to adapt to that weight. But I don´t have any wish to be in the special forces either.

+1 yI'm exhausted just from reading about it!
I'm kidding. I know I cannot do the first one because although I can do 80 push ups I can't do them quickly.
All the others I can do, except the last one.,. I have no idea if I could do that!11 Reply- +1 y
How much time do you get in between the trials?
+1 yNot sure about the swim.
The other things? Yeah12 Reply- +1 y
I can only do the push up and sit-up events. I can't do the pull-up and mile run events. I'm not sure about the ruck or swim.
- +1 y
I’m pretty certain I can do the ruck.
Not nearly as certain about the swim
I just don’t swim nearly as much, at all actually.

To give you an idea of what fit people who can pass these tests look like I found a random pic of a hotshot crew. This is the work I did for a decade, and even though I don't know this crew specifically, I'd be willing to be at least 80% of most hotshot crews can pass these tests (and 5% of them probably don't even know how to swim 😂) . Here is a random sampling of what these people look like:
![Can you pass the Special Operations Fitness Test?]()
I would also mention it's not that they are genetic anomalies, we just go through the same training and work and fitness program so we get fit. The start of almost every work day is between 1-3 hours of PT (Physical Training) that can be a hike, run, gym time, sport, or some other activity. On the days we don't PT, it's because we are getting straight to work, usually involving swinging tools, running chainsaws, pulling brush, and lots of hiking.
- +1 y
ya they all look heckin jacked so i believe it!! i just didn’t believe that the 10% of people that voted in this poll could actually pass ALL the events!😵
+1 yRight now I could pass 5/6, which is still a failed test. When I was in the military I could probably pass the entire test, but with a barely passing score on pull-ups and the ruck. However, I would still fail height and weight
10 ReplyI could ace the run and maybe the March. I don't know about the swim but absolutely not for the push ups, pull ups, and sit-ups.
10 Reply1.6K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. No but only because it's not my type of training. However, if I joined the military, I'd adapt to that very quickly.
10 ReplyCan’t pass any of them. I’d like to eventually get myself to the point where I can pass the PFTs for regular units, probably starting with the Air Force’s PFT.
20 ReplyAt this point, my physical fitness is a crying shame. I let myself get bad. I started taking a ju-jitsu lesson 3 times per week to get healthy again.

But I can run a mile in just under 8 minutes.10 Reply 1K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I could probably do the situps and the march. No clue on the swimming. The mile would be a definite fail. I would probably fail the pushups and pullups.

3 concussions, right shoulder muscle torn off during the dislocation, left shoulder broken clavicle, left hip broken, have shrapnel still in that hip from a mortar round that went off too close, liver damage from 30 caliber round, broken pelvis, both wrists, left leg, both feet. Some from combat duty in Vietnam, most from racing accident.
