Ladies, has your flow/period symptoms varied over the years?

Mine have varied. I used to have a much heavier flow, it came every 35 days or so and at times I had debilitating cramps. After going on birth control it regulated to 28 days, my flow got lighter and my cramps diminished significantly.

I was on birth control for 10 years. At which point we had babies. After that my flow remained somewhat regular, lighter and relatively cramp-free.

I have no idea if this is common but I feel lucky.

I had heavy, incredibly painful periods from the get go. After various shit doctors ignoring my pleas for help and just drugging me up, several hospital visits from losing so much blood I was finally put on combined oral birth control so now I can continuously take them and stay period free for as long as I choose to. And my cramps are a lot less.

My periods were irregular when I was in my early to mid teen years and we're talking about I wouldn't have a period for like 2-3 months. Then in my late teen years it turned out/I was diagnosed with having PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) which explained why my periods were irregular. Now I'm taking metformin and a combination birth control pills and that has helped a lot. As for the flow, the first day it'll start off as slow but by day 2-3 it'll be really heavy and a little painful so I just take Midol at night which knocks me out.

I just wanted to share, it's only now when I'm 34 years that it's this long I haven't had my permission flow/ period!
I last had my 1st day, June 3 next till now I still don't have again!
Mama says it's been long you still donot have?

I never got cramps till now and when I firstly got periods it was heavy and long. Like the longest was 15 days. After 5 months it decreased to 7 days and but it was still having heavy flow. Then slowly slowly it decreased now after 2 years the flow is light and only for 3-5 days and in regular basis. I know when I am going to have it. I think I'm lucky from what I have read about others here lol.

Both my mom and I have had irregular periods where we routinely skip a few months and my mom was not sexually active at the time she missed those periods and I’m not either. I had a period this month but it was very light, and my bleeding kept fading in and out. I also tend to get sleeping problems the day before a period.

I don’t need periods since I’m not trying to have a baby at the moment but if I decide I want to get pregnant one day I might ask my doctor for medications to regulate them. I know they exist but I never thought it was necessary for my purposes.

I've never taken BC but the doc tries to et me on it to regulate my period. For the last 4 years, my period only came on twice in a year. It usually skips 6 months and lasts about a week as usual. This is the first year in a while that its come on September and now October. Before then, it wasn't on since December. And yea i hardly cramp anymore. Today was the heaviest its been in a year or so. Annoyed cause it would come on when i have to train people at the office

Yea it used to come on monthly, mainly when i exercised 6 days a week. Its too hard to get back into that habit do until then, its probably gonna keep skipping. Finger myself deeply used to bring it on a lot like the day after. But i haven't masturbated consecutively since 2017. I do mental things to cum and i think that does something to my hormones and stuff. I don't know.

Have you gotten it checked out? @DizzyDesii I used to only get mine every 6-7 months too because I have hormonal imbalances (PCOS) but I take inositol which gives me periods more closer now.

Im scheduling a new appointment in December with a different doc (female at that) cause these men clearly know nothing about a vagina outside of sex 😂 They never tell me anything other than “lets try birth control” and i refuse

@DizzyDesii yeah, they been tryna put me on BCP since I was 17. It was just a bandaid solution to the irregular cycles so I stopped taking it. Definitely time to get a different opinion.

My cycle has always been a little irregular. Comes about every 20-28 days and cramps got much worse after I had my second baby and was still breastfeeding him. Not sure how it'll be after this third baby pops out. It's always a mystery of when it will return.

Other than when I first got my period, and it was completely irregular, (sometimes only getting one period every other month for the first maybe 6 months) it settled into a very regular “set your watch kinda regular“ schedule, but thankfully once I got on birth control my period got much lighter, and it is not uncommon to last for only for a couple of days!

Mine have always been on a military precise clock with two exceptions, which were really bad. If anything is ever off, always get checked. Just saying.

Really good to know yourself that well. I have never been that precise. When I went off birth control my first cycle was 21 days. My second cycle was 28 days. My third cycle I conceived on day 24. Would have been a 38 day cycle if not for my son. 🥰 Changed my due date substantially. Instead of being due in mid December he was due on Christmas day. In the end be came 3 weeks early. ❤️ Such is life. Thank you for sharing. :)

My wife's used to be pretty regular before she went on birth control. She only stayed on it for like a week, but after she wasn't as regular cycle time. She's hoping it will go back to normal after.

My period startes 7 days in 31 days. i feel my cramps just once in 2 months but I can not eat walk or doing any daily life things. The doctor said that there is no problem but I think every girl should go to the gynecologist because pains at the uterus is really important, it can cause of cancer or other woman ilnesses.

Before 18, it was heavier and insanely painful. After 18 or 19, only the first 2 days are painful and heavier. But now pn the 2nd day, i have a stubborn gas stuck on the lower abdomen leading to dizziness.
