Period Talk: what are your usual symptoms like before, during and after a period? (I also wrote a little about my experiences at the end)?

Anonymous
I ask this question so that I can learn a bit more about various symptoms, especially ones that may not be considered “common”. I have PCOS and my mom is going through that perimenopause stage, so In a nutshell, we both have absolutely different symptoms. Some symptoms actually scare us, like having super heavy flows, or having huge clots. Doctors say it’s all normal , but unfortunately I found doctors to be not very helpful and I actually learnt way more from other people’s stories.

If you’re comfortable and would like to share , it’ll be appreciated 😊

I for one get a period every 3-4 months. I’ve been working hard to manage my pcos so fingers crossed I get better. I only know I’m gonna have a period when I experience pms symptoms like, sore breasts, changes in discharge and a pimple that occurs in the same spot lol. My flow is usually medium on most days and not very painful, and it usually lasts exactly 7 days. My mom has super heavy yet not painful periods. It worries me I won’t lie. She sometimes has to change a pad every half an hour, and has a hard time leaving the house because of this. Her blood has a lot of huge clots as well. Recently , she’d notice mild pelvic discomfort, almost like a pressure, accompanied by lower back pain, but no period or ovulation. She’s worried if she’s going through uterine prolapse. Has anyone else experienced this?
