I moved house not too long ago and it turns out there is a loose nail on one of the stairs, which I found in the worst way possible lol
I doubt it has tetanus or anything but should I bother doing anything to make sure I don't catch something?

Triple antibiotic ointment on it and keep it clean and bandaged. Clean socks OFTEN (as in several pairs a day) and your cleanest shoes possible that have been sprayed with lysol or a similar product. If you haven't had tetanus or you're unsure, get that shot soon. If it gets worse or starts to hurt, go see your GP.
Per Mayo Clinic: Seek medical care in the following cases:
You've not had a tetanus shot within 10 years.
You have a puncture wound, a foreign object in your wound, or a deep cut.
Your wound is contaminated with dirt, soil, feces, rust or saliva — or you have any doubt about whether you've cleaned a wound sufficiently after such exposure. Contaminated wounds require a vaccination booster if it's been five or more years since your last tetanus shot.
In any event, if it was a new nail (not a rusty old nail), and, if as it appears, to only be skin deep, I would, do what you apparently did; wash my foot. I would also give it a couple of hours before I put on clean socks and walked on it; longer if for some reason it was painful. If after a few hours, it was painful, tender, or not healing, I would go to a doctor.
GAAAWWDDD DAYU-
YES, BE WORRIED, CHRIST. that's a long cut, soo yeah, should be a little worried. Keep that shi clean and be careful with putting on socks as that could open up the wound again and you're now bleeding through sock aaand you don't feel it.
Not a doctor but that's a really bad cut. Sooo yeah, be worried. Death comes in ways you didn't think was possible.
As long as you have your tetanus shots and it's not infected and you keep it that way then I don't think you should have anything to worry about. But if your worried about it you can always go to the clinic and get it checked out just to be on the safe side.

Oh no! You may have to amputate.
Kind regards,

Oh no! I've always wondered if I could pull off a peg-leg 😔
do you not have the tetanus shot? anyway i think it's terribly unlikely that you get it. i mean in the entire time from 2018 through 2020 not a single case of tetanus was reportet in the entire USA and people are for sure getting worse scratches than that. just get some desinfectant and maybe some healing salve and you're most likely good.
and consider: this site is not replacing a doctor. nobody on here should be regarded by you as a person qualified to give medical advice.
Wow, you have a really big foot.
Anyway, I stood on a nail and it bled and stuff. I didn't end up dying of tetanus.
Lol I'm a Irish/UK size 9, which I think is a US size 10? 🤷♀️
I'm struggling to think of a way to take that as anything but an insult haha
Well for one hobbits aren't real (hate to be the bearer of bad news), but the lord of the rings was filmed in new zealand so if I had to place them somewhere I'd say there lol
Nah, the Shire is obviously a representation of Ireland and in my opinion the most appropriate accent for a hobbit is an Irish one (so it is).
Also, the hobbit may not be real, but arguably the creatures within it are merely an exaggeration of human characteristics, personalities and frailties. For example, elves are aloof and obsessed with health and healing, a bit like me. Humans possess much courage and nobility, but can be morally weak.
in my opinion, anyone under 5ft 2 is a hobbit. If they have an Irish accent I can extend the height cut off point to about 5ft 5.
Lol 😆
The hobbits accents in the movies are somewhat... fluid. I think they tried to go for something hard to pin down, and its usually somewhere between west country English and irish (Sam's especially is west country) but it even slips into scottish sometimes.
I don't think the shire itself is meant to represent Ireland specifically, as Ireland doesn't have shires lol
I'm 5 foot 3 😬
Yes, if you haven't had a tetanus shot in the past 10 years, go get one. You have NO idea what kind of bacteria or crap has collected on that nail. Tetanus is a bacterial infection that affects the nervous system. By the time symptoms show up, it's already advanced. Get your ass to a clinic or your doc right now!
In 2019 there was only ever 4 cases of tetanus reported and welp 2022 isn't exactly gonna be a drastic difference in cases. So I wouldn't worry much, tetanus is actually pretty rare compared to the awareness of it.
Probably a tetanus booster and some kind of triple antibiotic ointment to put in it. If you start to get pain, swelling, redness, puss etc. around it you should see a doctor.
it does not look like a deep puncture wound and it does not look infected. Wash it with antibacterial soap, use neosporin and bandage it. weat white socks and change them every day. If it gets red and swollen you need a trip to the ER.
If the nail was rusty, and you haven't had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years, and the wound is deep (doesn't look like it...), then I would see a doctor. But each of those is unlikely, so I'd say just clean it.
If you feel sick from that and it becomes infected or if the nail was rusty and you aren't vaccinated for tetanus, I'd see a doctor, but keep the wound clean and it should heal soon
If you've had a recent tetanus shot, you should be okay. Take care of the cut with alcohol or Neosporin.
I’d definitely get a tetanus shot if you haven’t had one in a while. Plus I’d keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn’t get infected.
Sterilize it, don't wear socks and keep it for awhile till it dries... just stay laying in bed comfortable and let it heal slowly...
No worries about it!
Next time be careful!
Tetnis shot. I did something similar with boards from our attic when my parents wanted to turn it into a usable room.
I would get medical treatment if it starts hurting you, but I would still go to be on the safe side.
It’s better to be safe than sorry & I would totally recommend a tetanus shot.
Every ten years I get a tetanus shot & please get one.
Doesn't look deep but if it has been a long time since your last shot then best to see a doctor.
Yikes! It looks painful. I'd definitely get a tetanus shot.
Give it a couple of days. If it doesn't improve, then seek medical help.
"That's gonna be the bone saw..."
No no it will heal. Must have hurt though.
If you haven't had one in 7 years, get a tetanus shot.
