To anyone on here who has had covid have you experienced a decrease im your cognitive functions after your other symptoms went away?

I feel like I basically got dumber lol. Or feel like im just not as sharp mental wise as i was before i got covid.

Im wondering if anyone else who had it experienced the same after the other main symptoms went away?

I just read up that even those with mild covid symptoms can suffer brain damage. Hoping this isn’t what just happened to me. I guess it mostly affects older folks but i dunno.

I experienced brain fog for almost two months after I got covid. I was very nervous about it too because being a nurse at the hospital does not work well with having brain fog. Ironically since this was back in 2020 during the worst part of the pandemic I spent much of my time on the Covid floor. We had a lower patient-to-nurse ratio on that floor so in some ways it was easier to manage patients than on the regular med/surg floor.

Though wearing practically a space suit that had to come on and off for bathroom breaks and lunch breaks was tough, that's a story for another day, not the easiest to breathe in those things either.

My best advice is don't quit doing things that you find mentally challenging, doing things like puzzles, word finds, or any kind of small motor skills in my case was good therapy for my brain, and eventually, the fog cleared.

Yeah, the two months after was the worst of it, then it seem to get better each week that wen't by. I got sick in October of 2020, so November and December 2020 were to toughest. Then in the new year of 2021 I noticed signicant improvment with each weak till about March or so of 2021 it seemed completely gone.

Not me. I (and my family) had covid over this past winter for two weeks (felt like forever lol). Nope, I do not (and did not) notice a decrease in brain activity. In fact, I may even take a class at my local college, or reinstate my Life Insurance license early as well as maybe try to take the Real Estate exam this year. Never did that before. I'm hoping to pass it the first time, otherwise, that's okay. 🙂

We are around the same age by the way, unless you were an '83 baby, then you may be a year ahead/older.

It's hard for me to say that it's Covid-19 related. I've heard evidence that the shots messed with people and to my chagrin, I've had those too! Complicating matters is my PTSD and my life. I have noticed a decrease in my focus and mental endurance! I tire more easily now than I ever used to. Some days are a slog! Of course, I could just be getting old!😂

I only experienced a lot of fatigue, but while I was resting a great deal from it. I felt like I actually experienced a increase in brain power. Might not be directly related to covid, could be that I slept like a cat for 3 weeks. Finally getting caught up on rest, could of have increased my brain power.

I suspect I had Covid in 2020, but I'm not sure because I didn't get tested.

I've read about long Covid effects and what you described happened to other people. Perhaps you should go the doctor. But it might also be a temporary effect.

I haven’t had covid but most of my family has had it and they’ve all noticed a decrease in cognitive function, aswell as other long term systems. My sister developed asthma.

No, I got pretty lucky. Only hit me pretty hard for a few days. Two of those days I could hardly get out of bed. But less than a week later I was back to 100%

YES! I forget what I was saying as it’s coming out of my mouth. I had covid in summer of 2021 and I still don’t feel quite the same!

My cognitive function has stayed the same during and after COVID. Tho I did have decreased cognitive function quite a few years ago, that was the result of really low Vitamin D levels. Worth checking into.

Exactly I agree. I even think the flu/pneumonia was worse! I had it in 2017 and ended up going to the emergency room because I couldn't stop coughing that my cough lasted for at least three weeks and my chest was already hurting from coughing real bad. That was PRE-COVID too! Covid to me was nothing in comparison.
