People who lose that much weight that quickly are doing some seriously bad things to their body. Normal weight loss is in the 10-15 lbs range in the first month of dieting (as you lose water weight) and then about 1 lb / week afterwards. Anything faster than that carries serious risk and almost certainly comes from partial dehydration and loss of muscle mass as well as fat.
Also, a meat & cheese only diet is probably extremely high in saturated fat. (I'm guess that if you're eating a lot of cheese, you're probably not eating too much lean meat). Worse, eating that much protein as your main source of calories risks doing some long term damage to your kidneys. On top of that, you're missing out on vitamins & minerals, not getting enough fiber to help eliminate toxins from your system, depriving your brain of carbohydrates needed for proper function, depleting your muscles & liver of needed glycogens (which can cause fatigue and loss of muscle mass and accompanying base metabolic rate needed to burn calories more efficiently)
These kinds of diets almost completely unsustainable after 6 months to a year. When you inevitably drop the diet, you will have a lower metabolism and will pile back on the pounds ridiculously fast. That, on top of your high consumption of saturated fat is bad for your heart. A diet is a lifestyle choice -- not a quick method for losing weight before going back to business as usual. Can you really see yourself doing this diet for the rest of your *life*?
Atkins as you're practicing it is a metabolic shell game. Even the Atkins institute has had to back away from the kind of meat & cheese only diet you've put yourself on as the health risks have become manifest. Their website describes the diet as one of "lean protein, leafy greens, vegetables, nuts, fruits, whole grains." Not the mess you're eating. Low-carb, as modern diets use it, is a night and day difference from "no carb."
What you need is a *balanced* diet that cuts down on saturated & trans fats and sugars and highly refined starches (a step which by itself knocks out almost all junk food) and increases your intake of vegetables & whole grains. Don't take short cuts and look for the magic fix that lets you supplant all the unhealthy food in your life for just *one type* of unhealthy food instead of for actual healthy food.

no that is not good. you body is not mint to only eat meat and cheese. the atkins diet has other foods in it you can eat too that will help you loss pounds and still be healthy. don't eat fast food or drink soda. eat more veggies. exercise more and you will be fine. if you only eat meat you will loss pounds but you will most likely get sick. malnutrition is a bad thing. good luck.
the only reason why atkins works is because it tricks your body and confuses it, but once it figures out what you're doing to it, your body will adjust and you will gain all of the weight back that you lost.
what you are currently doing and proposing for your dieting future is very unhealthy and risky to your insides. the best thing you can do to lose weight is to cut salt and sugar completely from your diet (or as much as possible - I can't live without sweet tea) avoid all soft drinks, especially diet sodas, they are worse for you that regular sodas. diet drinks use aspartame to sweeten it (poorly I might add) and aspartame is on the goverment list of chemical weapons (google it). eat fresh, raw or steamed, fruits and veggies and put on your walking shoes and go outside. as far as meat goes, poultry (not fried) and fish (also not fried) is the best way to go. cheese and beef are ok in very small doses (I think the proper serving for a steak is the size of the palm of your hand - this does not include your thumb, fingers or wrist) and be sure to eat some form of pasta occassionally and the best form of dairy is said to be 2% milk, but I still prefer whole milk, it's more filling and tastes better, and peanut butter is good for you too (in proper portions).
get off the diets, have you ever seen the commercial that says "diets don't work"? well they're right, they don't. eating healthy and getting excercise is the only way to stay fit and healthy. also, scales are everyone's worst enemy. muscle weighs more than fat, I don't know about you but I'd rather be 130 lbs of pure muscle that 120 lbs of fat, start excercising! it makes you feel good and increases life expectancy.
You're going to mess up your body doing that. I don't know why people don't just eat healthy, cut their portions, and exercise regularly if you want to lose weight. Doing it the right way may not get you the results as fast but it is way worth it! Also if you are obese or really overweight, losing that much weight in a short period of time can make your skin sag. Please think about eating healthy and cutting out processed foods. Be healthy for life instead of screwing up your body for short term gain .

Whoa Buddy! That is INCREDIBLY unhealthy to lose that much weight in such a small time frame. The ideal rate is about 1.5 to 3 pounds every two weeks. Just do some aerobics and cut back on the fats and you're gold.
The atkins diet is very dangerous and puts your body into an emergency state of Ketosis! (look it up)
Also-loosing weight that fast can cause lots of stretch makes because your skin is shrinking too rapidly! Not good!DR. ATKINS DIED OF A HEART ATTACK.I'm pretty sure this discredits his work and you should get off this incredibly unhealthy diet ASAP.
