When you've tanned a lot from the sun, is it normal to have brown residue coming off your body when showering in the weeks after?

It's not fake tan but tanning from the actual sun

When showering lots of brown looking residue is in the water when washing away.

All it is is dead skin. The radiation from the sun burned off several layers of skin. That skin sloughs off and looks like dirt but it's not. Simply exfoliate and apply lotion.
