I probably weigh about 260 and I am 6 feet tall.
Will I lose weight?
I probably weigh about 260 and I am 6 feet tall.
i can relate to you.I was bout 350 and I'm 6'2" but mostly you need a shit load of motivation, you need a lot of support.it's going to be painful.and you'll have to push yourself very hard.bad habits are hard to brake. I went to a military school and the first semester I lost 50lb second semester 25lb, a year later I had lost about 100 lb.I'm lifting weights and starting to get ripped. My motivation is wanting to jump out of planes, jump school and special forces and ranger school. I'm in a military school so being in shape is essential.i've been there and I know what it takes.
If you want to loose weight make sure you are loosing it because you want to not because of a girls or anything like that.girls come and go and some thing for guys. Set a personal goal. Trust me buddy.it's going to be a long road but if you stick to it and be motivated you'll be successful. I got to say start slow.do not got to extremes unless you are being supervised and even then.its not that good.
Start an easy routine.for example wake up early and go for a 20 to 30 min walk on every other day like, mon. wed. fri. and a little something sat. treat yourself to a little something on friday night. it helps keep the motivation up. Keep this routine for a month and keep adding 10 min. every month. how many miles you should walk doesn't matter what matters is for you to move.
When you get hungry cause trust me you'll get really hungry.eat a lot of fruit.like 2 apples a day, or bananas. And drink water.drink 3 liters of water everyday keep well hydrated. The first few weeks are the worse because your body will hit the wall and it will crave anything that has sugar, and fat.we all like fat there is no person who likes fat.fat makes food taste goood.anyways back what I was saying.lift a little bit of weights not too much why is this? because you'll loose weight but gained it at your muscles build up.and seeing no change in weight is un-motivating.and trust me your a big guy you have enough strength.
Walk or use the stationary cycle and use it 20 min every other way, if your doing it right your body will tell you increase the time, increase by ten min/ drink water.water is essential. and do aerobics, aerobics is a good weight looser.all military personel does aerobics.take care, and good luck .hey if ever need some support send me an e-mail or a comment and I'll get back to you.
I am an exercise science major concentrating on weight loss and weight management. Although the stationary bike will help you shed a few pounds the first couple of weeks, you will eventually hit a wall. You need to incorporate resistance training as well to build muscle, muscle is metabolic tissue, meaning that it requires energy or calories to function normally, so the more muscle you use and have, the more calories you will burn. I would highly recommend you go to a gym and sign up with a trainer. Also diet is the most important, about 80% diet and 20% exercise. Eat 6-8 small meals a day split 2-3 hours evenly. The idea is if you keep giving your body what it needs, it will not keep it as fat. Let me explain, say you go 6 hours without eating and all of a sudden you stuff your face, your body will say to itself "hey here's a chance to grab what we have and store it (fat) for later since he's not going to eat for another 6 hours", this is because the body is preventing you from starving, but the side effect is stored fat..not good. So feed your body every 2-3 hours with lean meats, whole grains (no white breads), and loads of veggies and fruits, this will keep everything moving. And absolutely no fast food, junk food, and no soda what so ever. Go to bodybuilding.com also, lots of great tips. And the one most important thing is consistency, don't do it just for 2 months, make this your lifestyle to stay healthy and eat healthy. Things won't change over night, and btw within two months with losing weight the healthy way 9about 1 pound a week, you're only losing 8 pounds. Be patient, it took awhile to pack on weight, it will take a while to lose it. Be positive and have a positive mental image of your ideal self. Good luck!
Thanks man. I have a gym at my school but I don't really want to go to it because for a big guy I think I am really weak. I have never really workd out before so it's intimidating to go there.
It's so hard to just eat fruits and veggies because I like to eat bread. Everything I eat is with bread.
Dont worry about your ego, I had issues too as in being very small when I first started, 120 vs. now 167. remember diet is everything, without proper nutrition, don't even waste your time exercising because it is the basis of an exercise program. you HAVE to eat veggies and fruits.
I have been on so many up and down diets through out my life time and I will tell you the secret to living healthy while feeling confterable in your body: balance, balance, balance. Don't go over board on anything, including denining yourself of food or exsersizng too much. I would suggest mixing up your work out routine and I would also suggest getting out side to do some excersize: being out side gives you motivation, the fresh air is good for your body and you burn more calories rather than being on a machien in your house. Go for walks, out door bike rides, maybe wear some 1lb wrist weights, but don't get neurotic about this either, start slow, don't push yourself because you won't want to work out if you push yourself to the point where it is a pain in the ass to work out. Also, watch what you eat, incorporate as much veggies into your diet as possible. Carrots, brocolli, onions, lettus, tomatos, beans, potatos, these foods are good for you and they are delicious, try to stay away from processed foods: stuff like hot pockets, buffalo wings, frozen borritos, that stuff is full of fat and chemicals. But it is ok if you slip up and eat something like that, and I would recomend every now and then allowing yourself to indulge. Just not on a regular basis. If this is your first time dieting, I would suggest reading some books on nutrition, NOT diet books, but factual books about nurtition and excesize and how the body processes both. All this takes is commitment.
You shouldn't overdo it. Drink a good solid 8 glasses of water a day. Do a colon cleanse as well. Dinners should be light. 5 days a week is fine to work out. the last thing you need is waking up in the middle of the night with charlie horses. Also try doing other excercises beside biking like walking or stair climbing that way you can kink ur muscles quicker.
Haev you done a colon cleanse?? It sounds nasty to me... how long do you do it?? How much is it? what is agood one?
So what is it exactly?? You drink it and you just poop more??
Where do I get it? How much?
Thanks

People always say "eat healthy" but I know it's not that easy. When I wanted to lose weight I read this magazine that changed my life. Unfortunately I can't remember what magazine it was but I know what it said. This is sort of what it said in the article:
You know that huge bowl of cereal you have in the morning? Or that three scoop ice cream cone you get everyday? You may think it's okay, but you will be just as full with a smaller bowl or a two scoop cone. See, your body is full, but you can't realize it when you're eating. Start with smaller portions and to help, buy smaller bowls so you CAN'T put that much cereal in it. And when you eat dinner, wait 20 minutes before eating dessert. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to register as "full", so you may not even feel up to eating dessert! And eat meals slower so the body can digest and break down food while you eat. Gaining weight can be caused by lack of the body breaking down food.
I hope this helps =D Good luck.
PS- take the stairs instead of the elevator and use your bike instead of the car.
I have heard from people who lost like 100lbs that the secret is to exercise every day, and even a couple times a day. You're only doing it for 2 months, which I can't blame you, but if you want to lose a lot of weight and not gain it back, you're probably going to look at it from a matter of a year or years.
If you want to kick-start your diet, you might want to do a colon cleanse. If you do a really good colon cleanse, people can lose a lot of weight with that in a week or so. It's really important to keep your colon clean. A lot of people lose about 5-10 lbs, but you could lose more than that since you're heavier. It is really important to eat enough fiber to keep the weight off after that. There are fiber cereals, fiber bars, fiber drinks, and whole bean chocolate from hershey's (yay), barilla pasta in the yellow box, whole grain bread, etc, etc. (I love food, so if you have any food questions, ask me)
Exercise has been found to not have the beneficial effects if you don't have the support from family and friends. So basically, don't be lonely, and it will help.
Good luck. I really hope this works for you.
Here's my story.I am 5'8" and I used to weigh 215 lbs. Last September, I challenged my co-worker to a "Biggest Loser" contest. We decided to see who could lose the most weight % by the end of the year. I didn't take it seriously until November when I started to get up at 4:30am in the morning and jog until I got tired, then I walked until I was ready to run again, then I ran until I got tired. After work, I would do jog again. The among of weight that I used to carry around was hard on my knees so I took it easy in the beginning. I also changed my diet by cutting down on my intake of carbs(bread, rice, pasta, etc.) It is important to diet and exercise at the same time. In two months, I lost 30 lbs. Now my weight is 178lbs and mostly of fit muscles. I used to wear size 38 now I'm down to size 32. Good luck! The first month is the toughest! Keep at it though! You'll feel so good about yourself and a lot more chicks will check you out! I'm noticed by a lot more hot women!
yeah my sister told me "eating healthy is a way of life" not just for a couple of months but I was like um screw your life I want to eat whaetver I want. SOO I went on a somewhat diet or "way of life" and she started to notice I got really cranky because I didn't eat whatever I wanted. I got upset I didn't see results until I started eating the way I used to. I went to the gym like 4-5 times a week I walked to and back from school for 2 hours, I ate a little bit but enough throughout the day and I realized it isn't as easy as I thought it would be. But if your serious about this and you want to change your life it can make you really really happy. As soon as I started feeling good I gained all the weight back :P but I'll make a new years resolution. So if you really want to do this I say DO IT! :) it can make you really happy in the end as long as you put all your hard work and effort into it Good Luck!
I took nutrition in college and we learned that healthy weight loss is .5lb to 2lbs a week. Lets say you loose the maximum of 2 lbs per wk times 8 weeks=that's equal to 16 POUNDS IN TWO MONTHS, but that's only assuming that your loosing the max possible.
If I were you I would get some extra support-try to get your famiy or a friend to do it with you. Or join a local YMCA they have many classes and seminars to help people loose weight. Also a good idea:weight watchers- my friend is obese and she has most like 10 pounds so far by going to weight watchers-she loves it. Maybe talking to a dietician or taking some nutrition classes in college would also help.
Hope this info was useful
Your already starting off on the wrong foot. "I am going to exercise on a stationary bike everyday for the next 2 months and eat healthy." If you want to lose weight you have to understand that if you work out for 2months lose the weight then stop working out you will gain the weight back. Working out has to become a lifestyle to you not a two month thing. I would also suggest something you might enjoy over a stationery bike like a regular bike find someone to ride with you. Its something you will start to enjoy and get used to. Or maybe even skating Ice skating is quite a workout. If I were you at least talk to trainer get a workout set in place weights some days then the bike its gotta be balanced or you can get injured.
You need to do more than just use an exercise bike. To really drop weight you need to lift weights as well as the cardio. You will probably lose some weight from the bike but the results won't be the same. You want your muscles burning up a lot of energy from lifting. From what I've read and been told it needs to be a balance of both to work the best.
U are right
u will lose a little from bike but not egnough
as long as you're losing it healthily. if you eat healthy like salads and fruit juices, it helps a lot. I lost like 5 lbs just in 2 weeks because I ate more salad and walked more. I wish you good luck and my friend just lost 20 lbs and it's great. she's much happier and she also like ate healthier :-)
Simple as it is.
Eat healthy (google what food you should avoid)
And exercise enough. . . Don't worry if results won't be showing at beginning that much.
This is the most correct way to loose weight without getting all back.
Really try avoiding the food you shouldn't eat. . . (and of course you should make days when you can treat yourself with something good. . .like once a week.)
Answer for your question:
''Yes'' you will loose weight and you will look just great in no time!
hmm you'll need a scale, that really helps to let you know what you can't eat and if you need to up your exercising. Like when you lose 5 pounds a week or something but then stop losing weight by your 3rd week you'll know it's time to up your workout. Overall you'll lose a decent amount depending on how many calories you consume and in where you fat cals are coming from
fitday.com can tell you how much weight you'll lose with your activity level, with your weight, height and how many calories you're consuming, and how long it'll take you to get to your goal weight OR how to get your goal weight in a set amount of time. good luck!
The amount of weight you can loes depends on the what you consume (and how much) eating "healthy" -- there are a lot of definitions for eating healthy! -- and how much and how hard you exercise.
I wrote a book called Beauty and the Yeast Beast after losing nearly 200 pounds. I also wrote one called 1234ever, which is really not a book but an undated 14 month calendar with an exercise program laid out day by day; you could substitute the bike for walking with weights, or you could look into the Trikke (it's on Beauty) which is WAY more fun and way more exercise than a stationary bike!
Please e me if you have any questions: candidaqueen@comcast.net
The sites are BeautyAndTheYeastBeast.com and 1234ever.com

wen I was 21, I was around 313 lbs (I dropped down to 164 in 13 mths of a vegan lifestyle and werkin out twice a day, religiously). You can lose the w8, but it's gonna take werk. What w8 doya wanna get down to? Here's an idea, dude- get sum 30 lb dumbbells, and run, and eat healthy. That's how ur gonna lose the excess w8. Take it from me, it can be done.
You will start to lose weight the first two weeks but after that you won't lose anymore. You need to up your work out routine ever 2 weeks and take it to the next level.
Eating healthy is great.
When exorcising make sure to give your body a break. Like doing the bike thing every other day and then doing some cardio on the days you aren't on the bike.
I think you could lose 2 pounds every day.
hey man.heres my advice from me
last year I used to way 185 and I was 5'8.i want to look nice and strong so I took the south beach diet which help me lose 18 pounds in around a month.you should really tried that diet.also you have to work hard the first months to lose weight.and when I said to work hard it means.to do cardio for at least 45 mins.do pushup and sit ups.do some lifting.but cardio is the key.the stationary doesn't really work.cuz you're not moving your body.NO PAIN, NO GAME!
Most girls say weight doesn't matter. About 1 in 10 on this site think its an issue. Most say its a personality thing. I have a friend who is over 400 pounds and only one girl out of his friends has even mentioned his weight. So I think women are to kind hearted to care about that. At least that's what they say. But health wise it is important you will live longer. Also eat herring very healthy it will prevent heart problems
I don't know if you can afford it, but your best bet would be to go to a gym and get a trainer. You could lose probably 15-20 pounds in 2 months. But you need to make sure that you drink tons of water, eat healthy, do cardio, and weights.
If you work super hard you can loose about fourty pounds in two months!
If you're going to do it only for 2 months instead of the rest of your life. don't bother.
Change your diet
Wow... thanks a lot fitness guru...
