That dream of a 6pack... we all (may have) wanted it. I try to get mine by sticking to a routine before I sleep. Then I caught a cold and each time I sneezed, my upper back hurts. I'm chiseled enough, more than big ass Hannah over there but is my body really saying to me "If you push yourself anymore, you will pull a muscle?" It's flat enough to be a swim model but... is it possible I already have abs in my own way?
Everyone has abs. It's only a matter of whether you can see them or not. If it hurt your back to sneeze, it was not because you "had abs". Although maybe extra strength or unbalanced core might contribute. You want a balanced core to keep your back healthy. This includes your side muscles as well as front and back muscles ( doing one arm rows for example ).
"If you push yourself anymore, you will pull a muscle?"
Listen to your body. If you don't, sooner or later you will hurt yourself. It's just a matter of understanding what your body is saying. If you don't understand your body, it will make it perfectly clear, and it might not be much fun.

I am not sure I understand you completely
But there is a saying "Abs are made in kitchen"... meaning that your diet influences it a lot
So you might have Abs underneath but unless your body fat percentage is low enough it won't be "Visible" no matter what exercises you do
Not everyone's abs are visible, but they are there. It just might take quite a while for them to be visible. Just don't do your upper muscles and abs everyday, give them a day to rest in between so the muscles can repair themselves. If you don't allow them to, then you'll feel very sore. Every other day is the key.
Some skinny people with low body fat will have visible abs even if they don’t work out. It’s a matter of having low enough body fat for your abs to show. You can still develop your abs to make it pop but it will only be visible once you get your body fat low enough

Not sure of what you mean by "the way you wanted them'... My Yoga class does a Core workout and it is tough, I have the best abs of any guy in my class. Any more and I could crack walnuts with em"
The particular class is call "Sculpt" and if you stick with it, and eat right, you will have tight abs, and a flat abdomen
Back from my training heydays, I seem to remember that for people training hard the abs, there often is an imbalance/weakness with the opposite back muscles. Try some exercise that is specialized for the back-part where you felt the pain.
I could never get a 6 pqck either I could do a thousand situps and do situps while I hung upside down. My brother was 220 pounds and he used to stand in my stomach. I had strong abs but I never had a 6 pack. A lot is generics
