Lol what? So many things dehydrate you. Dehydrate is simply the loss of water. Most commonly 'a major loss of water' bit of a misnomer though. Physical exercise dehydrates you. Sleeping dehydrates you. Soda is a diuretic meaning it increases the production of urine to reduce fluid levels in the body thus dehydrating you. Which if left unchecked can lead to dehydration. I am a biochemist remember lol. I would hope I know what I am talking about given a portion of my job is/was studying the effects of chemicals on biological organisms.
Definitely not true. Some soda is fine but relying on that for hydration is not a good idea. Soda can only hydrate under 2 conditions. If you are already dehydrated as you gain some water initially but then lose it and more over time. Which is why it can dehydrate you or you overconsume it constantly replenishing before you lose the water + more. If you want genuine hydration the best method is 1 pinch of salt/8 oz of water when active. Or 1 pinch of sugar/8 oz when resting. Sports drinks for example were designed to be that way but many have added too much sugar making it far less effective.
