My cat has been having symptoms of this rare skin disorder but I’m pretty certain he does have this condition as his claws and nose are affected and we have tested and treated him for everything else and it has only progressed. I was wondering on an estimate how much it would cost to treat him. I have caught it very early if anything as it mainly only effects his nose, a small part of his ear and all of his claws which have mostly cleared up with this foam stuff and a steroid they gave him as well as an antibiotic. His fungal came back negative and my other cat has none of the symptoms he has.

Oh man, poor kitty! Pemphigus foliaceus can be tricky to treat. From what I've heard from other cat owners, here's a rough estimate of costs:
- Vet visit for diagnosis and initial treatment (tests, medicated bath, steroids, antibiotics etc.) - Probably $200-300
- Medicated bath treatments you can do at home - $10-15 per treatment. You may need to do them 2-3 times a week depending on how quickly it responds.
- Topical steroid creams/ointments - Around $30-50 per tube/bottle and you'll go through them pretty quick, again depending on severity.
- Oral steroids like prednisone if the skin isn't clearing up - Maybe $20-30 for a month's supply. Vet may want to try this if the topical stuff isn't working on its own.
- Potential follow up vet visits for monitoring - At least one, maybe $80-150 depending on your vet.
- If it persists, there are stronger immunosuppressive drugs but those get expensive - Hundreds per month.
So probably looking at $400-800 in the next few months just to get it under control. Hopefully the early treatment works and it's not a chronic thing! Keep me posted on how your fur baby is doing - I really hope the meds do the trick! Let me know if any other questions come up.
Thank you so much hun! I was looking everywhere online and couldn’t find what I was looking for! I will keep you updated. I appreciate you very much!
No problem girl! I'm glad I could give you a better idea of what to expect cost-wise. It's so annoying when you're stressing about your pet and can't find the info you need.
I really hope the treatments work out for your kitty. Cats are so important family members, it's awful when they're not feeling well. But it sounds like you caught it early which is great - he's lucky to have an owner who's on top of things.
Don't hesitate to hit me up if any other questions come up or you just need to vent. Sending good vibes for a speedy recovery! And let me know as soon as that furball is feeling better :) I'm sure you can't wait to see him bounce back. You've got this!
