My X-ray is completely clean. No tooth decay, no infection. But my tooth hurts often. I asked my dentist. He told me to take antibiotics because of infection and it didn't affect me beautifully. My tooth still hurts. What should I do?

Our teeth need adequate fat soluble minerals to repair and be healthy. My teeth only start to get sensitive when I am getting low on vitamin D3. In fact, if you get to understand what teeth need, you won't produce plaque, acid and you won't have any other problems. Xylitol sugar crystals when left in the mouth for several minutes will solve a lot of problems and a water flosser will help get rid of issues too. Oil pulling with coconut oil can help as well.
Ultimately you are spending your money on a person who can only pay their bills if your teeth get worse...

Try to avoid eating sweets or acidy foods such as oranges, lemons or drink anything fizzy like C**e that would eat up the enamel of your teeth.
Drink plain, room temperature water so as not to give you the cold shock that you will feel if the cold hits that soft spot on your tooth.
Brush your teeth only with a brush that has soft bristles and avoid applying too much pressure.

Give the anti-biotics time to work. Dentists can only deal with physical damages like cracks or chips in your teeth if they cause pain. If any kind of rot is not seen in your teeth, that means it’s something internal that he can’t fix by yanking out your tooth.

He can't treat what he can't see. Do you have other signs of an infection in your mouth (bad smell/taste, inflammation, tenderness, redness)? Does the pain come and go?
Not all dentist have the best X-ray equipment. The newer digital tech has much better resolution. Several years ago I had a tumor (non malignant) in my jaw and it wasn't discovered until I went to a maxillofacial surgeon to have a wisdom tooth removed.
If you are not happy with your treatment, trust your instincts and get a other opinion.

I know because I had both positive and negative experiences with dentists. When a dentist couldn't find out what was wrong with my tooth, I changed and found another.20 Reply- Anonymous(25-29)1 mo
Sometimes X-rays don't pick up on a "micro crack" on a tooth, so your root can be exposed to liquids and pressure from chewing will impact the nerve really hard. How do cold liquids feel? How does chewing feel?
I have two dentists in my family, so I can ask more questions if you clarify here.

Oh really? Perhaps my problem doesn't seem there. And thanks so much. Namely, my doctor told me I had tooth root inflammation which is why I took antibiotics for 5 days but I still have toothache. When I eat or drink, it doesn't matter. My tooth hurts suddenly but then it goes away. I still can't understand what this is

This is identical to what I was dealing with. The dentist (my uncle's second in command while he was away in our home country) said that I had gum and bone decay which was causing inflammation of the root. I was told to deal with it. A few weeks later, the tooth suddenly broke. After probably six months of pain.
I went straight to my uncle and he said that the tooth was already broken, based on the perfect smoothness of the exposed area. And that the X-ray wouldn't have picked up the tiny crack, so it wasn't the other dentist's fault. And he made a crown for it and it's 100% better now.
He also said that I was lucky the root didn't die off because I would have had to get a root canal. So, basically the pain will go away after months or years so you think the tooth is fine now. And then the tooth dies because there is no root keeping it alive.

Could be pain in your gum or could be some other part of your body pressing on a nerve that you feel in your tooth. Go to another dentist to double-check, and try a physical therapist, they can find all sorts of sources of pain. Rarely, it can be your heart, so if you don't find any other issues, ask your regular doctor about that. But that's rare, especially so young.

Did you finish the antibiotic? If not, wait until the medication has time to work to see how you feel. If you are still sick, tell your dentist and he will probably prescribe something else. If that doesn't work, ask for a referral to another doctor.

If the dentist says your teeth are ok, visit a general Doc. It could also be Migrane, Ear Infection and some other deseases that would trigger toothache.

I ended up with TN after having dental work. The dentist didn’t notice at all and dismissed my pain and said I have reseeding gum line. I do not! A nother dentist figured it out.
Initially the pain was so bad and no where would take me seriously I drove to the next town and went to their ER because our ER was a 10+ hour wait in the sun/head with no chairs or shade. You need to be your own advocate here00 Reply I agree with @EmmaMary just go to a different dentist and see what they have to say.

Back or front? Maybe your wisdom teeth are causing pain

Sounds like some of your tooth enamel might be gone. You might want to try a different toothpaste like Sensodyne, which can help strengthen your enamel.

Don't take any medications until you've seen another dentist and they agree.
When you get there don't tell them what the first dentist said, let them come to their own conclusion.
Just tell them what's bothering you and why you came to see them. You don't even have to tell them you went to someone else and you shouldn't.

Get a second opinion... xrays have blind spots and they should have taken another set when they didn't see anything
