None at all. It's natural and has always been changing. Besides, what am I going to do about it? I'm respectful and will put my trash where it belongs, but for every person that does that there are 100's that just don't out there in the world.

It's a bit silly for some people because of how serious they make it. Politics gets ahold of it and makes it absurd over and over again. For instance my age is about 10 years older than what's on my profile... I didn't forget when the panic was overpopulation, now those same people want to import endless ammounts of the 3rd world due to underpopulation? Spare me. Oh no, the oceans are going to rise and swollow everything, and then they buy ocean side property worth millions of dollars. Spare me. The world was going to end when, and how many times that same prediction came and passed? Spare me.

Climate change may be real, but I would argue that it's just getting better. I'm not motivated to stop having kids, import the 3rd world, stop eating meat, or to go into a retarded panic over it. Everytime I see a new person that is like that, they're far from the first I've seen and probably far from the last. Even a Greta Thunburg moves on and now wants to get oil to people that are going without oil... funny how that works... oil was evil, but is suddenly a human right when it's denied to a communist place. Spare me.

To sum up my feelings, it's not the climate change that causes me anxiety, it's the human alarmists and panicans doing their bullshit about it that give me any anxiety about it at all. They always jump to these conclusions that never come to pass as well as try to enforce solutions that are usually really stupid when looked at in the long term... or they're just greedy for money. California taxing everything for the planet for instance... then they blow the money on shit that never gets done and magically they get richer as everyone else gets taxed even more for climate change... yeah... spare me.

That means by the time I hit 80 years old (in 48 years), it would have increased an average of 0.96 degrees Celsius globally or 1.728 Farenheit. I doubt that would make much of a difference in life overall.

So am I worried about it? Not really. But I'm not going to live my life as an irresponsible adult for the future generations. I will do my part to keep the environment clean and try to keep my carbon footprint relatively low.

Also, I'm sure within 48 years, technology (especially with AI) would have improved significantly and we will have many solutions to counter climate change.

There are scarier concepts. Like did you know the Milky Way and Andromeda (another galaxy are on a collision course? It'll happen within the next 10 billion years, so we won't be around to see it, but the concept of our galaxy and another galaxy colliding and merging together is wild to me.

And then there's the concept of the sun turning into a red giant. In about 5 billion years, the sun will turn into a red giant and even before that... in 1 billion years, Earth will have become uninhabitable because the sun will be about 10% brighter than it is nowadays. That extra heat will trigger a runaway greenhouse effect, evaporating Earth's oceans and ending all surface life.

They're actually saying that each home will soon have their own miniature data centre that will be part of your own expenses that handle all of your AI needs in the near future. That will definitely increase temperatures. However, the technology we achieve utilizing that same AI will balance it out in time and it likely won't be a problem soon

Ever since we've had reasonably high-performance aircraft (mid-1930s), when planes could fly high and fast enough, planes have created condensation trails. When the humidity levels were high enough at a given altitude, the speed and pressure of an airplane moving through the air will cause moisture in the air to condense, and because the airplane is moving through the air, this will create a "trail" of condensed moisture (what we call "clouds" when they naturally condense) that will subsequently dissipate naturally. The shortened name for these is contrails (condensation trails).



Again, early fighters and bombers - which by today's standards were very small and certainly didn't have any extra space or weight capacity to carry tanks full of chemicals - created contrails. B-17s flying bombing missions to France and Germany created contrails - and, again, no one was going to reduce the bomb loads or the fuel loads for these missions to carry nefarious chemicals that wouldn't help win the war.

It's the same today. Southwest and Spirit and United have zero interest in carrying chemicals to spray in the air (they're already heavily regulated for the jet fuel they burn), which is just extra expense. But they often create contrails, because anything moving fast enough through humid air are going to create contrails.

Yes, it's possible to do things like seed clouds to cause rain, but that's both inefficient and has long fallen out of practice.

As for the other stuff, I'd guess that most chemicals detected come from smoke stacks, rocket launches, and other "routine" emissions, not from airplanes intentionally releasing chemicals into the air.

But thorium reactors can't be weaponized easily and can't have meltdown chain reactions, so when a thorium reactor gets chernobyld it would just stop functioning and it would not trigger a full meltdown.

We have approximately 50-60 years before oil and gas are no longer viable energy sources, and 100-150 for coal.

Presuming the entire world switched to coal after running out of oil and gas (unlikely given solar, wind, nitrogen, batteries, etc... also ignoring that coal isn't a very efficient energy source for a lot of infrastructure, etc) that means coal would last roughly 40 years there after. This will take us up to roughly 700ppm.

At that point it will take well over 5000 years for all the glacial ice on earth to melt and will eventually result in roughly 1000-1100ppm range upon releasing trapped co2 into the atmosphere. Ocean levels will rise roughly 60-70m removing thousands of square kilometres of coastal land at a rate of 4-5mm rise per year.

All of this equates to about a 4-6C increase over per-industrial avg temps.

And none of this takes into account the worlds carbon sink efficiency over a span of several thousand years which would reduce the increase in ppm. Nor does it take into account what sort of technology we might have developed over the span those thousands of years.

so yes... again... over many many MANY generations. Basically the entire span of recorded human history as far back as ancient Mesopotamia to current day for perspective.

All of this is to say, climate change is a D tier issue. It really doesn't even make the list of most plausible causes for human catastrophe.

Even if we somehow stopped emissions entirely, it takes around 50,000 years for nature to remove 100PPM CO2 from the atmosphere, so there's nothing you should worry about. Thanks to CO2 it wasn't like it is today and was much warmer with artic tundra vegetation at the most extremes. Only by 13.8 Myr had the ice sheets formed.

This happened earlier than at the North Pole. The north pole was ice free for most of time and only started to have ice sheets about 13 Myr ago.

Quite simply there has not ALWAYS been ice sheets at the poles - that is just incorrect.

Technically if there are ice sheets it is an ice age. There doesn't need to be an ice sheet in your backyard for it to be an ice age.

The earth has been cooling trend for a long time and that is the climate change that will kill us. Plant die at about 150 ppm and we got down to 180 ppm (where plants struggle) last time. C4 plants can go much lower but there aren't many of them and we mostly rely on C3 plants which WILL die.

Sooner or later we will be burning coal to fend off a bigger ice age. I just hope we still have the massive machines to dig the coal up to convert it into essential CO2.
