I had my appendix amputated. More seriously, it depends on the body part and the cause. If it were due to a wasting illness like a complication of diabetes or another disease, I might be thinking it was just time to go.
I mean... The doctors aren't suggesting it for fun, right? In fact, I'm pretty sure they are not suggesting it at all but just doing it if necessary.
If I had to chose before dying and body reshaping the obvious choice is to live, but I would not amputate a body part for casual, pointless or low risk reasons.
If it was an absolutely no hope situation between life and death, then obviously I would give this my consent.
Well i am diabetic so that is solid liklihood down the road. That would have horrified me years ago. But i'm starting to accept this is the progression of life. Some things gwt taken away from you whether you like it or not. And if it's not your life gwtting taken from you, you can rebound.
Truth
Only in extreme circumstances like a life-saving procedure.
Doctors don't chop bits off for fun. If they recommend it you know it's the only option
They would have to convince me I will die if I don’t.
Die or live a terrible life
If they show me medical proof and convince me that it needs to be amputated for medical reasons yes.
Definitely would get a second or third opinion
If it was a matter of life or limb I'd give up the limb
If it's needed then yes.
