Energy drinks and their side effects, do you drink an energy drink daily?

Do you drink an energy drink daily? If so what brand? What side effects could it cause?

I used to drink 'Rockstar' daily 3 or 4 cans untill I found out that taurine in them can cause sometime of mental ilness. According to a Russian TV channel. So I don't drink it anymore.

Energy drinks are a concoction of many ingredients each with their own side effects. Manufacturers have combined many ingredients together that each have varying levels of stimulating effects on the body. Many of the stimulating effects are linked/activating or simulating aspects of the autonomic nervous system. The division of the autonomic nervous system stimulated or simulated increases heart rate, increasing blood pressure and blood flow through the body, this is how it allows people to feel energized. Increased blood flow means nutrients and gases are being transported through the body at a faster rate. In the flight or fight response of the autonomic nervous system this is important so you have energy to face the confrontation or run from it. The increase in heart rate and blood pressure can however cause heart attacks, blood vessels to burst, which could cause stroke and a cornucopia of other problems. I personally do not consume energy drinks, I find the endorphins release by physical exertion, fresh air and sunlight to be much more effective in energizing me, oh and a balanced diet, complex carbohydrates take longer to digest and longer to use the energy from so you do not get sugar lows, combine with proteins and healthy fats(unsaturated, omegas found in fish) and you are set.

i drink energy drinks almost daily. I try different brands like red bull, amp, monster, rockstar. my fav is the xcyience xenergy drinks, they're probably the best tasting sugar free energy drink I've ever had.

as far as side effects...i don't know. I'm sure the constant intake of caffeine isn't good for your system and could potentially lead to problems with long-term use. The cans typically say not to exceed 2 cans a day so I wouldn't go above that if you are considering drinking them daily.

I know a doctor, he knows I love monsters and red bulls. When I finally asked him if they were really as bad as they said. He mentioned to me they really are not. So I than told him I drink 2 - 3 per day. He said the limit should only be about 3 a day if possible to only keep it as one a day. He went on in explaining other things. But all I cared was a yes or no answer whether they were safe, so I trust this guy and to this day I continue to drink my energy drinks.

Rockstar used to make me feel reeeeally sick every time I drank it/ headaches, stomach aches. I've never heard about it causing a mental illness before though. monster sort of works for me, but I can only drink like half the can. I get "Absolutely Zero" by Monster. It's really good. You should try it.

i've never had an energy drink because I would probably end up having a panic attack or something lol I don't deal well with that kind of stuff. even with caffeine if I have a lot I end up really shaky and I get dizzy. so I avoid energy drinks. and can I just say (though this has absolutely nothing to do with the question) you are really cute! lol OK that's all :)

I only had my first one last month because deadline was creeping on me, and I was too sleepy that coffee had no use to me lol. I drink V because I believe it might be a little weaker than red bull, or I hope. Anything with strong caffeine is no good so I avoid drinking the whole bottle of 350 ml in one day.

I don't drink them because they don't work for me, they don't give me a "boost" and it's all sugar. I feel like I might as well drink soda or something else, especially if I'm getting nothing out of it. But I like coffee a lot, and sometimes coffee will actually work for me.

I have only ever drank them with alcohol. ;) One time my friend and I were trying to get tipsy really quickly before going into a club and she gave a me a little bottle of monster to drink with it cause she said "it will help you absorb it faster". lol It actually tasted pretty good.

And then Yaegermeisters are my favorite.

I used to drink Red Bull, but stopped and not because its harmful to the body but because its useless for me, might as well get coffee. Taurine doesn't only cause mental illness, it can speed up your heart rate and you can get a heart attack.

No I do not. I try to refrain from all caffeine as much as possible. If I must drink caffeine it comes from green tea or any other tea!

I love Red Bull though :P

I use to drink a lot of Monster because we had them for free at our job. Not any more though. I didn't notice much of the side effect.

I used to drink them everyday. Moderation is key, abusing energy drinks can lead to irregular heart beats which can lead to weakness or fatigue, shortness of breath and chest pains.

Black coffee was always the better choice.

Fortunately for me, I found them disgusting and never got into them.

I can sometimes get that way from just caffeine. There is something about energy drinks though that doesn't appeal to me. I don't really think of them as drinks I guess.

sorry for answering slow, but I don't think it has any sort of caffeine it just has LOADS of sugar, more than 27 grams of sugar, so its a death drink.

I drink an Amp every other day and I don't get hardly any side effects except I get a little jumpy.

i drink FRS when I can find my favorite flavor, drink it twice a day. it doenst really give me any enegry but it tastes really good
