Have meals with the right balance of proteins, carbohydrates, and the right kinds of fat (such as unsaturated and monounsaturated fats, olive oil, canola oil, pistachios, almonds and walnuts). Heinemann suggests the following ratio: 60%-70% carbohydrates, 10%-15% protein, and a small amount of fat.
Eat foods higher in calories, vitamins, and minerals, as opposed to higher in fat or sugar.
Pack more nutritious calories in each serving. For example, you may add grated cooked eggs to mashed potatoes, ground chicken to soups and gravies, cheese in casseroles, eggs, and soups, and nonfat dried milk in soups, shakes, milk, and mashed potatoes.
If you get too full too fast, try having more high-calorie foods or slices of foods as opposed to consuming the whole thing (raisins versus grapes, granola and Grape Nuts versus corn flakes, mango slices versus the whole mango).
Limit drinking beverages to a half-hour before and after a meal.
Drink mixed juices (apple/berry, peach/orange/banana as opposed to one juice beverages) for a higher calorie intake.

I know how you feel. Several years ago I used to be you.
I was unhappy in my own skin and tired of people thinking I had an eating disorder.
I am just a girl with a high metabolism, its hard for me to gain weight.
My tip for you is instead of eating and drinking at the same time. I'd strictly just eat food.
If you eat and drink at the same time, you tend to eat less because you are getting full off of the liquid.
This worked for me. I am now 5'6 125 lbs. I used to be 5'6 105-108 (I still had a nice shape too me though.)
Ensure Main Ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, maltodextrin (corn), high-oleic safflower oil, canola oil, corn oil
THEY CALL THIS SHIT HEALTHY? STOP DRINKING IT! I used to drink it twice a day for months, no wonder my heart health got worse. I got addicted to it (the sugar), then finally found out how unhealthy it is and stopped easily, it tastes so gross now.
Onto healthy weight gain, no you don't have to eat Mcdonalds and tons of crap. I find bodybuilding.coms site really helpful. Here's a link to some good articles, same applies to skinny girls, just look under the nutrition section for more articles.

So should be above 110 lbs. Don't feel bad I like skinny girls. Just find out healthy foods on that site and eat double the portions of it. (don't listen to the media, or what food companies tell you is healthy).
sorry love , no pain no gain, you need to do weight training, with increased anorobic exertion your musculature will grow and your appetite will increase accordingly, you may actually start to feel ravenous intitially and crave higher protein intake natutally, of course you don't need to go all out ,in a ladies circumstance you obviously are not going for the bulk that men seek, so just a breif 45 minute curcuit work out every second day should be sufficient to put you well on the road to healthy and effective weight gain, oh and squats and pilates are great for building those ass muscles ;) hope this helps.

If you have already tried things like ensure drinks then you need to go to the doctor.
Things like ensure drinks are actually like medication, they are prescribed by doctors etc - so if your not gaining weight drinking them, there's obviously an underlying issue.
See your doctor, there's a list of things that can make you lose weight - from diabetes to worms! You ned to work out, including working with weights. Dont' worry, we all go through cycles like this where we lose or gain weight. A consistent workout program will give you a healthy appeitite.
You might want to check with an MD to see if you have some sort of vitamin deficinecy. It's not likely, but that does happen. There's almost always an easy cure for that type of problem.Calorie surplus, high protein, high healthy carbs, and exercise with weight training.
