Should I hold out on the jogging or combine it?

I weigh in at 240 lbs and stand at 5'9...I want to get back to exercising and my favorite is jogging, but since my weight has gone up am afraid that I will either hurt my knees or something else. Should I hold out on the jogging or combine it with speed walking or some other type of light cardio?
