I feel awful about this..?

Question

On a run today a group of college guys yell out of there car

"Get Some Sun".

This always really gets to me because I have a condition called Body Dysmorphic disorder so I am very sensitive to comments about my appearance.

-People don't yell at a fat person from there car telling them to lose weight.

-People don't yell at a black person form there car telling them they are too dark and to go inside.

-People don't yell at an unattractive person from there car telling them they are ugly.

Why is calling someone pale socially acceptable when it clearly is meant to be insulting?

With all the info about skin cancer and aging that has come out I don't get why society puts such an emphasis on a tan. Besides, it's April and I am an Irish guy who needs some time to develop color...

People do yell at fat people to lose weight - from a car, from a corner, hell from across a crowd.

people do yell at a black person ( even laugh right in their presence,) about them being too dark. Usually other black people.

People do call unattractive people ugly from a car, from a corner, to their face.

People are mean as hell.

I never got the pale thing either - I think that really fair complexion is quite pretty. For much of history it was looked at as being of nobility - whilst those who were tan were seen more as field laborers.

I asked my friends who obsess about tanning, why they up their chances for skin cancer doing it, and all they simply said was because they liked being a little warmer in the skin.

It's almost like dying your hair simply because you fancy a different color.

People pick with each other all the time about physical things like that - my darker skinned friends get the occasional " all I can see is your white teeth -" or if the lights go out " where did so and so go?!" Hell, my roommate taunts my blackness and I'm not even that dark lol

Dunno why we do that. We just do.

People are inconsiderate pricks and when they yell out at someone it's usually because they don't have any self respect or confidence and it makes them feel good to take someone else down a peg or two.  No matter what, there will be douchebags like this in the world, just know that you are far more intelligent than they will ever be and lacking as human beings.  Karma will get em.

It doesn't matter if you're pale. Those guys are clearly idiots, so why care? I doubt it's your purpose to be attractive to them and the weirdest part isn't your skin tone but how they were checking you out and objectifying you.

I'm also pale. I don't mind. Most of the time I find pale guys very  attractive
