How can you tell someone that they are a slob with out hurting their feelings ?

My boyfriend is turning into a slob. Yesterday we went out to lunch and he dropped some sauce on his coat and licked it off. He never washed his hands. Smh. it's more than that, he doesn't even washes his hair or like to take shower a whole lot because he doesn't like moisture. WTH? And he complains about everyone not liking him! He use to dress nice but now...it's just really slobby. I don't want to hurt his feeling so ANY IDEAS ? Help !

My sister has the same issue with her boyfriend. She actually shared a story with me that I'll share with you. Apparently her boyfriend doesn't like the whole hygenic thing also because he doesn't like feeling cold after a shower (or some crap) and this somehow extends to brushing his teeth. One day she goes to him and shows her teeth and goes "Baby, do I have plaque stuck to my teeth" and he looks at her teeth and says "No". She then says to him "Thank you baby, sometimes I get plaque on my teeth, Just like you have right now, but I usually brush and floss so that it goes away." And thus, she preceded to show him how to brush his teeth properly.

Point being-I'm sure he knew how to properly care for his teeth, but because she brought it up in a direct way while not being accusatory, I guess he felt embarrased and like she would notice if he didn't do it properly. I think you need to be direct but at the same time concious of how to break it to him. B.O and poor hygiene is a turn off- make sure he knows that people notice in a subtle way
