+1 yMy main form of exercise is soccer, and while I pretty much always feel better about myself physically after a game or a practice, I don't always feel better mentally. Usually I do, but there are those days when there is so much dramatic crap going on with my team that I actually get rather stressed out.
Every other time I get excercise, like if I go for a run, or go to the park with my brothers, or even just go for a long walk, I always get that mental AND physical high.
It's that feeling like I really made myself healthier today, and my legs are sore and therefore feel strong, and I'm all sweaty, which means I worked hard... It's a very satisfying feeling.
Yeah, I look gross all sweaty and red in the face, and I smell less than lovely, but as others have said, I can just go home and shower (which always feels AMAZING), plus I'm usually on such a high, that I don't really care. I'm more proud of the fact that I pushed myself hard. :-)11 Reply- +1 y
I feel better about my self when I exercise in the form of sports. Not too much when I do pushups and other types of exercise. I think I also feel a bit better when I go for a walk or a run. I may do that more often. Do you feel better about your appearance after a workout?

+1 yU probably felt that way because you may be really unhappy with your body, and just felt that work out was useless, since you feel you have such a long way to go. Or maybe you were just really having a crappy day, where you felt really sad about something, and thus getting all pumped in a workout didn't help you at all, or made it even worse. I personally am not into exercising, especially in public because I'm really self conscious, and exercising means you have to move Ur body around which catches a lot of attention on it, which is something I don't want. I like to dance in my basement sometimes for exercise, and sometimes I feel good after it, and sometimes I just feel straight up tired and miserable lol.
09 Reply- +1 y
I think I may have been having a crappy day but working out made it even worse. I don't really care who watches me while I exercise. Have you tried Zumba? I hear that's good exercise.
- +1 y
I haven't tried Zumba, but honestly I think Zumba is just dancing, I don't see the difference between paying for classes where I'm trying to copy their moves, when I can just dance on my own for free, and feel.more comfortable too because I'm alone, and don't have to worry about how silly I look. Lol what kind of exercise do you do?
- +1 y
Well I hear you can lose a lot of weight or get in shape because it's straight dancing for like an hour straight I think they said. I guess if you're self conscious then it is better to just workout at your home.
I'm currently just working out at my home doing pushups, situps, pullups/chinups, and lifting some weights. - +1 y
thats great. Keep up the good work, I just took a night jog last night. wasn't too bad.
- +1 y
Well honestly I haven't been doing good work but I'll keep at it. lol Did you feel better after that jog?
- +1 y
Yes it felt great afterward. It gives you an adreline rush, which I haven't got in a while (you don't get it much from dancing) I almost always avoid jogging because I'm just terrible at it lol, but it felt nice this time. Might make it a more regular thing.
- +1 y
I don't really think you can be bad a jogging. It's always up to you on how much you want to jog. If you liked how it felt you should definitely do it more often.
- +1 y
Yes hopefully I will. I think running is the best exercise to make you healthy because it really pushes you. And picks up your heart rate.
- +1 y
That's true, I do enjoy running so I may start doing some running too.
It depends. If I am feeling down on myself, going to the gym may not make me feel great if I cannot change up my inner voice. You can easily take the same experience and either think it is great or think it was awful, completely based on your attitude.
However, mostly a workout to me makes me feel like I am doing something valuable, that at least a half hour or an hour that day was spent on something really good and if I do cardio, it releases some endorphins that help me feel a bit better about life in general.11 Reply- +1 y
I'll have to change my inner voice to a better mood when I work out and hopefully I do feel better after I get through. That's good, I feel better about working out for thirty minutes a day too because I also know I did something productive that day for at least the time. I never really feel better, maybe my endorphins don't release. haha
+1 yNot exactly a confidence boost. Just success in that I got it done. I'm a fairly lazy person when it comes to things like needless expenditure of energy even if it is necessary for being in shape so it's sort of smalls victories when I have the self discipline to workout every day. So I suppose in a sense I feel better about myself, yeah.

Do you feel better about your overall appearance or just better as in you stuck with someone to complete it?

Appearance, no.

I meant something instead of someone.

+1 yYes! Always! In fact that's a major motivation in me going in the first place when my day hasn't been so hot. I think listening to music is very important and you must challenge yourself so you feel pumped up! Don't compare yourself to the people there unless you use it in a positive way for inspiration.
05 Reply- +1 y
I don't have an mp3 player. :\ I also never compare myself to other people and I also never really feel pumped up.
- +1 y
Get one! An ipod is like $40 something. It helps a ton! And work out hard! Get those endorphins running! Or maybe go with a buddy!
- +1 y
Right, I'll probably just get a cheap little ipod shuffle.
- +1 y
If your working out at home, you can get a boom box and play it really loud to get you pumped. Unless your running then you need a mp3. But honesltly I see a lot of really fit people running the streets with nothing in their ears, and they don't seem to mind. I guess its just preference.
- +1 y
I think it is more of a personal preference and I've actually heard that it's a hazard to run with headphones on. I'll have to think about it.
i never get a confidence or self-esteem boost after workout
but if I workout extremely hard to the point where I can't walk without feeling tired or I can't lift anything with my arms, I feel GREAT! cause I know pushed my self to the limit without being lazy01 Reply- +1 y
I like it when that happens to me too.
I feel miserable, haha. Not depressed, just sweaty and gross. I don't think I get the "runner's high" people always talk about :P
There's a lot of stigma about guys doing yoga but it's the only form of exercise that makes me feel SO good afterward.13 Reply- +1 y
So you just feel nasty and like you need to take a shower or what?
- +1 y
So you basically just work out because of your high blood pressure? That's not bad though.
+1 yalways, especially if its rough but you still keep going. At first of course its hard and one its likely to not do what was expected, but you´ll get better with practice and therefore feel better when you see you are advancing
13 Reply- +1 y
So do you feel better about your appearance and body after a workout?
- +1 y
yeah I do
- +1 y
Well good on you.
+1 yYa if you haven't worked out in a while, you'll probably be struggling the first day, and that won't be helping your confidence. But if you keep doing it then you will see improvement and you will start to feel better.
13 Reply- +1 y
Do you feel better about yourself when you do it?
- +1 y
Generally yes. I try to get in some form of exercise each day. Usually that's just shooting hoops or playing drums. It's minimal but I feel better just knowing that I wasn't totally lazy. There was a period about a year ago when I would go play pickup basketball games a few times a week. I felt great afterward, I had so much more energy and just felt overall healthier. And because of that feeling I wanted to go back and play more. But its all about starting somewhere.
- +1 y
I love playing sports as a type of exercise, it's kind of boring just doing pushups or chinups. You have to do what you have to do though.
I always feel great. It even feels like my stomach is tighter/slimmer. I have sometimes felt really tired, but my friends always say they feel energized, so maybe I pushed myself too hard.
13 Reply- +1 y
My stomach feels like that sometimes too and I also never feel energized, I always end up feeling tired and just want to take a shower and lay down.
- +1 y
Me neither.
427 opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. Yes. Besides the biological reaction, I do feel good. It's the little accomplishments you recognize about yourself that can really help.
13 Reply- +1 y
What do you mean by the biological reaction?
- +1 y
Endorphins. You reduce stress, anxiety, depression while feeling better and overall increasing your health. It's a win-win. The "runner's high" is a result of this reaction. It's quite fascinating, and just adds to the benefits of exercise.
You may not feel these effects, but your body certainly does. However, your mindset and attitude can override how well you feel after work outs. Exercise is a common useful way to feel better, if it's not working for you, find something else.
- +1 y
I may not have a lot of endorphins to release because like I said, I worked out one day and while I was in the shower I felt really depressed and sad. I don't know why that was but I felt pretty bad.
I'm still going to stick to working out a couple of times a week but I just know that I won't feel great like a lot of other people.
+1 yI almost always feel good after I workout. It gives me a self-confidence boost because I feel like I'm making progress towards a personal goal.
15 Reply- +1 y
I don't really have a goal in mind when I'm working out, I just work out to work out. I also don't feel better about myself, maybe cause I don't have a goal. I don't know.
- +1 y
Well, my goal is to stay healthy, not trying to loose weight or tone anything, just trying to stay the way I am. But it's definitely good to feel great about yourself, knowing that you're keeping your body healthy and in shape.
- +1 y
I think that's probably my goal is just not to be obese. I don't know though I never get these endorphins that everybody is talking about.
- +1 y
Yea, I don't know about the endorphins, but I know I feel good about myself after a great workout.
- +1 y
Well that's what most people say it is so I'm just going off of that.
I feel great after working out and it seems
like my body feels more free
and my face more bright and clean...:) :P11 Reply- +1 y
That's awesome, I wish I would feel like that. Do you feel better about your appearance after working out?
Definitely. I feel more confident and positive about my body after a good workout. The more strenuous the better.
13 Reply- +1 y
That's good, I don't usually feel like that but I may just have to change my state of mind.
- +1 y
It's also probably the endorphins all these people are talking about.
I actually immidiately look better. If I worked out 2 times a week I would be in awesome shape but I am lazy lol. I feel great too after I work out. I keep on wanting to and maybe I will start to soon.
01 Reply- +1 y
You should, you feel better and get healthier. Well I never feel better but I know I'm at least a bit healthy.
+1 yYou feel awesome because working out releases endorphins which are like happy chemicals in your body!
01 Reply- +1 y
I guess my body doesn't know that because I never get happy chemicals.
+1 yi feel so much more confident. and because of all the sweating I feel like my body cleaned itself. plus I onl work out out in the open like soccer fields so air does the job too.
11 Reply- +1 y
That's true, I love doing exercise while playing sports, that's the best.
I usually get really happy after working out, because I'm just so lazy all the time. But it doesn't necessarily mean that I feel better about my appearance.
13 Reply- +1 y
I'm also pretty lazy but I don't really get happy. I just get tired instead.
- +1 y
I guess it is.
hell yea. well not appearance wise, but I would feel good knowing the fact that I'm getting there

- +1 y
Alright, awesome. Well thanks for answering.
+1 yYes I do! I feel like something has lifted off my back. Big release.
13 Reply- +1 y
You feel better about yourself internally and appearance wise?
- +1 y
Yeah and yeah. Don't know why though. I guess It's because your body feels as you've accomplished something.
- +1 y
That's what I hear but apparently my body doesn't know that.
+1 yI tend to feel so much more powerful and good about myself. Love it.
111 Reply- +1 y
I never get that feeling. :\
- +1 y
Im sorry :(. What are your goals with working out?
- +1 y
I don't really have a goal so it may just be that I don't have a goal I'm striving for. I'll try to set a goal for myself and see if that helps.
- +1 y
try not to have an unattainable image in your mind- that helps. I think sometimes everyone (myself included) can have an expectation to notice a huge difference every time. The point is not to look a certain way, its to look in shape for what your body is supposed to be. Strive to look and feel the best that YOU can. Better, yet, work on a body fat% goal, that's individual and it isn't as daunting as 6-pack abs or the scale.
- +1 y
It's not that I want to notice a difference in the mirror every time. I just honestly don't have a goal, I just do it because I think it'll help how I feel with the occasional back ache but I don't expect anything too great. I'll try to do that but I also don't how to check the body fat percentage I'm at right now.
- +1 y
A lot of gyms will do a "fold test" and you can ask them to do it. The body fat percentage is just an example of the different goals you can have :)
- +1 y
A fold test? Sounds like they fold your body fat and see how much they can pinch or something.
- +1 y
Basically, look it up. Its the most common way to test it.
- +1 y
I'll do that.
- +1 y
Awesome. Its a good goal to have because its much more personalized.
- +1 y
Yeah, sounds like a good idea. Thanks.
hell yeah. nothing like adrenaline and endorphins running through my veins!
12 Reply- +1 y
I don't ever get adrenaline or endorphins. Maybe I'm not working out as hard as I need to but I feel like I am.
+1 yI do feel better, tired though. As for my appearance, I shower there after I'm done and I look fine.
15 Reply- +1 y
So you do feel better about your appearance afterwards?
- +1 y
Yes, but that shortly fades.
- +1 y
I'm sure it just about fades for everyone.
- +1 y
Well not those super buff guys, I imagine it never does. Either way I'm doing it for myself, that's who you should be doing it for.
- +1 y
Haha Yeah, I guess it probably doesn't fade for them. That's who I'm doing it for but I also don't have a goal in mind so I don't really have anything I'm working for.
1.5K opinions shared on Health & Fitness topic. I definitely feel a confidence boost...it's because of those endorphin thingys that are released when you exercise. :)

Well of course, moods come and go.
- +1 y
Yeah, I hope I can feel good after a workout one of these days.
- +1 y
Are you happy before you start working out?
- +1 y
Yeah, well I'm definitely not in a bad mood.
of course I feel better. regular exercise releases hormones that improve your mood.

No, not really. It just makes me want to work harder

Yes, there's only one better feeling that I know of. I feel amazing after a good workout.

01 Reply- +1 y
I know what you mean about getting lazy.
+1 yI only feel good if it's something which I truly love doing
01 Reply- +1 y
I feel that too. I only feel good if I'm tired after playing soccer, basketball, or football. I don't feel too good if it's with weights and other things.
I always feel better after a work out. I find it to be a stress reliever.

- +1 y
Ah, okay. So even after the third day of working out for that week, you don't feel better about your appearance?
- +1 y
Well I'm sure the other people who feel better about their appearance don't actually notice a difference but they just feel better because of the "endorphins and adrenaline" that's why I was wondering. That's good that you feel good about your looks even without working out. How exactly do you feel healthier?

Okay, I gotcha know. Well thanks for explaining everything. lol
