Regular eggs will be from a factory that has multiple warehouses a couple hundred feet long with rows of 2'x2'x1' cages with about half a dozen or so chickens in each one. It's kept warm and humid with hormone/steroid laden feed being piped into a trough that runs the length of the cages. Every 3-4 months the chickens are removed from their cages and put in carts that have smaller still cages on them. The cages on the carts are about half the size of the ones in the warehouses and have about twice as many chickens put into them. The carts are shipped off to the butcher, and a new batch of chickens replaces them.
Normal free range will have an enclosure that the chickens will actually be able to move around and possible roost in, but the feed probably won't be much better.
Organic free range is pretty much the same as normal free range, but with better and more natural food.

Awesome that you pay attention to what eggs you buy! I always get free range eggs - they are only a little bit more expensive, but taste a lot better and it actually does make a difference compared to 'regular' eggs. But as HannahC said, the real good ones come from someones garden, not from any mass-production institution. As I don't have any space to keep hens myself, I am now on the lookout for some local farmer to get my eggs from ;)
I used to buy organic free range eggs when I was a vegetarian.

But ehh. I don't think it's much better than the battery cage chickens.
Free range chickens you get at grocery stores typically can't even spread their wings out.
There are actual small farms out there that do treat chickens properly though.

excuse me being a raging hippie, but there really is no such thing as a humanely treated farm animal unless you got them out of your own backyard. A lot of people don't know the truth's behind the words. If your going to get eggs, just get any eggs, because they're all treated about the same. Some with fancier words than others. And again, I try not to preach sorry.
I buy eggs from a friend of my mom's who has his own free-range chickens and whatnot. Besides the whole animal cruelty thing, I think these eggs actually taste way better anyway.
Free range organic, it makes me too sad to think of all the chickens hemmed in and standing in their own waste unable to move and pumped full of hormones and chemicals that make them sick.
Just regular eggs are the ones that I get- Egglands usually, but I'll get whatever is on sale. I'm actually craving eggs right now!
I get whatever is the cheapest :p
