How long until the United States shuts down McDonald's?

So after my 5 mile run and my 90 minute gym work out, I drove past the glorious golden arches of McDonald's and I just had that craving for a big sloppy burger and a Mt. Dew. Completely undoing all of the calories I just burned, I got excited eating this Big Mac because it was just so good when it hit my lips. But it got me wondering.. Now that government controls health care, what's going to happen to McDonald's. I mean, we all know its bad for us, but what am I going to do when I get that craving again? Go to Japan. All those Asians are skinny and they have McDonald's. Are we going to be forced to eat healthy food now?

if the food is well made. the job conditions are fine. and the place is clean... the only responsible for what gets inside your mouth is yourself.

McDonald's has already salads and soup in my country (not sure about US) but I'm totally aware that the ''big size'' hamburger in Portugal is the smaller one in US.

You are the only one responsible for getting fat or sick. when we get a menu, here we have a description about all the calories, grease, salt... used on it, write in their boxes, so we can be able to manage how many calories we eat during the day (what, for a normal sized person who does not have an exhaustive job, shall not be much more than 3000)

if you eat it 5 times a day and don't get your a$$ out of the couch, it will surely show up in the size label of the cloths you wear.

You are not American, but it's okay. The Government has everything to do with it. As stated in my other response, now that the government controls your health care it is not going to allow you to consume things that are harmful to your health.

I don't think they're going to shut down McDonald's anytime soon. It's too big of a franchise, though it is certainly unhealthy. What I think should change is their portion sizes. Some Australian exchange students came to my school last year and they told us, "At McDonald's, your smalls are our larges!"

If the government controls health care, they need to keep you healthy in order to save money. So they will eliminate things like McDonalds since they serve no benefit to your health. This is something everyone is overlooking. The government is not going to pay for something that is a detriment, they'd rather open a FruitDonalds with bananas and whole grain.

Haha, those are two completely separate issues. Cigarettes are detrimental to our health. So why haven't they eliminated cigarette companies? The answer is the government doesn't care about our health, it's all about the money, and McDonald's is such a huge worldwide franchise that there is no way they would eliminate it.

Okay so what about the Private Sector in the economy? Obama wants to get rid of them because they're Capitalist. So if we are going Socialist on health care, why wouldn't Obama and the government be in favor of shutting down an industry that is going to create people to have a worse health situation. Issues like diabetes and high blood pressure are effects of the fast food industry. Would a car company sell unsafe cars? No. Instead all of our tax dollars will increase because of Obamacare.

I am in a graduate program with a guy who came from absolutely nothing and is the youngest of 5 children. He is the only one in his family who is educated beyond middle school, let alone high school. People might laugh, but they don't realize that once you overstep boundaries you redraw the map. We are suffering from an identity crisis. The government is so out of place and out of touch with what being the United States is all about that we are knocking on the door of economic collapse. It's doing too much and it's far too expensive to uphold.
