Start lifting weights, at least do body weight exercises and build some muscle (you won't get buff so don't worry).
You need a little extra muscle to really burn calories. Cardio type exercises are not that effective because they don't burn calories as long, while muscle workouts burn calories for 24 hours after. You'll also gain strength which benefits your job.

Go sign up at a kickboxing gym, or a boxing gym. You will get into great shape, and it will make you a better Deputy Sheriff. Plus go see a registered nutritionist, they will help with the diet.

Depends on your weight. The heavier you are, the more you will be able to lose during a couple months.
That's a huge loss - need to maintain 4 lbs a week.
Zumba won't be enough. You need multiple hours a day of exercise to have a shot at this.I can tell you that it's not going to be safely trying to drop that much in such a short time.
