Oh good lord, before you even go to a GP, please see a Chiropractor! If they can't help, then go to a GP. Taking pain meds just masks the root of the cause.
I've had two back injuries and these guys were my go to. Had I gone to a GP, I would have been given nothing but pain meds and my dislocated back and whiplash wouldn't have been treated.
In the meantime, work on flexibility and strength exercises.
Generally, back pain is caused by muscle imbalance/weakness/too tight, disc issues, or structural issues. Stretching will help overall. If the muscles are tight, they tend to pull the spine out of alignment and that can cause pain.
Combine that with strengthening weak muscles, it will help keep the spine algined as well.
You said you had a C-section? I wouldn't be surprised if the back compensated for post surgery function. Example being that since your ab muscles were recovering, the back compensated. Basically weakened core muscles that were imbalanced threw things off and your back took the brunt of it.
So yeah, give basic stretching a try. Google back exercises and go to the links provided by chiropractors or physical therapists. See if that helps alleviate the pain at all. If not, go see a chiropractor. They would be able to help adjust any structural issues as well as determine if there are any disc herniations as well.

The main thing is to strengthen your muscles to help support your back. Also getting into a hobbit of stretching keeps the muscles loose and your able to bend more comfortable. When I had trouble with my siotic nerve I did Zumba which stregthed my core muscles & relieved the pain.
My wife had the same issues. She gained a few extra pounds and felt worse. She started going on one hour walks around our neighborhood, and got one of those exercise balls so when she did
sit-ups it wouldn't hurt her back against a hard floor. She looked on line for exercises to do on these balls and found an exercise called Pike Ups... Those got rid of her back pains completely. They build up what they call the core muscles and she says she feels better then she did before she got pregnant. Drugs really never work, they hid the pain temporarily. Pain comes back eventually.
I suggest talking to the doctor and see if they can help give you any kind of tips about spinal pains. Don't take advice over the internet about such a serious issue :)
