Does anyone knows if you get paid for clocking in earlier than schedule ? Let's say I'm there from 8am to 2pm, and my manager tells me to clock-in around 7:45am or 50, do I get paid for those extra minutes I'm working ? I get paid hourly 8 dollars. I'm new in the place, and only have about 4 weeks working there. I notice my hours and pay don't match up from the extra minutes I clock in.

Are the managers taking advantage of me if so ? Some, of the old workers were telling me, that my manager is taking advantage of me because I'm new, and don't really know how things work. I'm also with the union (Which they charge me a few weeks ago 30 something bucks), but that's different than my paychecks.

Anyway, please let me know, because I feel that there is something wrong, and I don't get paid those extra minutes I work early, or stay in a little late.

Managers will take advantage of newbies.

You get a nine minute grace period before and after your scheduled clock in time.what that means is you won't be counted late or get points. However, if you notice on your pay stub, it will print your hours down to the minute.say you're scheduled 25 hours a week, you'll see your check statement specify 25.06 if you were on the clock six minutes over 25 hours.

The managers will say it doesn't matter, but every minute counts. They say it doesn't matter but let's say you get 20 hours a week but come in 5 minutes late daily, those 5 minutes will be deducted from your check and you'll miss money because of it. The same works in reverse if you came in early and clocked out late, you'd get extra hours and actually be considered stealing time.

Now what CAN happen is that your manager can go back and adjust your time.if she tells you to clock in 10 minutes before scheduled time but you only get paid from 8 to 2, then unfortunately that's probably what she is doing.make sure you keep all your clock in/out slips in case of any discrepancy.

Say you're scheduled at 8.you can clock in as late as 8:09 without being penalized.you can also clock in 9 minutes earlier without any problems.

Your employer can't make you work unpaid time. They will either have to pay you those extra 10-15 minutes, or give you bonus time.
