How often do you brush your teeth? how often is okay?

I was dating a girl who randomly asked me how often I brush my teeth. I told her once every time I'm about to go to bed. She then freaked out and said I was gross for only brushing once.

I have very big bright white teeth. I used to be obsessed with brushing my teeth. I used to do it about 5 times a day, and I used those whitening strips alot. I mellowed out and ever since I've just been brushing once a night.

How often is "okay" to you? your bf/gf?

Well, it is obviously good that you at least you brush your teeth once a night before bed. Yes, it is suggested to brush your teeth twice daily and floss at least once a day. I am a dental hygiene major and could go on and on about this. You'll run into problems if you don't brush your teeth and leave plaque at the gum line; this can lead to cavities, gingivitis,  and bad breath (halitosis) among other things. If your dental hygienist and dentist are fine with your teeth cleaning habits then I'm sure your dental health is fine. As for the girl freaking out, she is the one you were dating and would be kissing so might have wanted to consider picking up the brush in the morning or at least using a mouthrinse.

I brush at least once a day, and need to get back in the habit of brushing twice per day.

I think tops, 3 times per day- any more is either a waste at the least, or damaging your enamel at the most. Plus, excessive use of whitening strips can have a negative effect on your teeth.

I brush them typically twice a day, always in the morning after I show and then in the evening before going to bed, but I sometimes miss that one.

I think once a day is minimum. Twice a day is most common. In the morning to get rid of morning breath and bacteria build up during the night and then before bed to clean off the food and stuff you have been eating during the day. Brushing after every meal is a bit over the top. But a chewing gum after lunch is a nice complement to keep the breath nice and fresh.

You should brush after meals.  But please at least brush in the morning rather than night if you  only do once a day.  Bacteria grows at night while you sleep.  No offense but I'm wondering why she asked such a random question, unless there is an issue with the breath.

You don't brush your teeth before taking breakfast every morning?That's gross.Haha.I brush once in the morning and once before bedtime and floss daily.I have been flossing before bedtime every night for 12 years.I also gargle my mouth after every meal. :)
