He is out of town for the next week. I feel that I should not contact him at all?

This guy that I dated for 2 months broke up over a month ago. We are still talking. The last 7 days we have had relations and I asked what it meant. He told me "idk how I feel about it. I like your company and playing games with you. Your fun to be with. Not ready for a commitment, so its nice but I don't want to hurt you and I don't want to be hurt. Right now I'm OK with it but like I said I don't want us to get hurt so its your call how this plays out." The 2 ways I interpret this is 1) he wants his cake and eat it too. 2) he wants to see how it or if it blossoms. Due to the fact when we first broke up I cut him down by telling him he is a laborer (I know, I really shouldn't have done that.) and that I was out of his league. again, I know better. I do not think I'm better than anyone by any means. I was just angry and hurt. I should consider myself lucky he even wants to hang out with me. But how should I interpret this?

He is out of town for the next week. I feel that I should not contact him at all as 1) he'll be with his family and 2) let the distances make the heart grow fonder? I just need some male perspective please. Female is welcomed as well.
