My friend *Daniel* recently tried to talk me into attending a meetup social event and I bluntly declined. Then he went silent. I’ve since tried talking to him, but he won’t speak to me. Should I try again in another week or month, or just leave him alone? I only want friendship and my mates have explained that he was hitting on me; and I rejected him. He’s friends with another guy who’s been/was pursuing me not long ago and wouldn’t stop and a guy who was after my best friend and wouldn’t stop, either. I do care about him as a friend, but I don’t want to kiss or have sex with him.

You're assuming he's hitting on you. Did he tell u he was hitting on u? No. He just invited you to a group meet up like friends do. You declined because you're boring and insecure. He doesn't want to be around someone who doesn't do shit.
