Tips for a job fair please...

im going to one tomorrow, should I dress up?

what is a job fair like? do I need to bring anything with me?

the job I want is for Sanitation at a factory/bakery.

i have a nose piercing and I don't really want to take it out.

will my nose ring make a difference?

please give me tips/advice I'm really nervous...

I ended up keeping my nose stud in only because I couldn't get it out. I did really good, got a interview and should be starting work soon.

Bring more resumes than you expect to give out. Job fairs have a lot of unexpected opportunities.

Wear the most business professional attire you own, hopefully a suit. If not, a CONSERVATIVE top with nice slacks. This isn't a date, don't look like it is.

Have a pen.

Practice a few second "commercial"

Ex.

"Hi, my name is Anonymous User. I am a XXXXX major at University (or w/e) and am looking for this. Do you have an opportunity that fits?"

Obviously a bit less robotic. But you can't freeze up at these things. They are seeing a lot of people and you need to have your crap together.

Take the piercing out! Think of it this way: It MIGHT not make a difference, but it MIGHT be enough for them to not take you seriously. It can never HELP you, so why risk it?

Lastly: Don't be too nervous! If you are really super nervous, go practice talking to a couple of booths for companies you don't care about at all. That way you will work out your jitters before you get to a booth that you DO care about.

it depends how big the nose ring is , if its a small stud they might not even see it if its one of the bigger ones I'm sure they will notice not sure if they'll care or not . but a lot of jobs allow nose piercings so it might not matter

to be honest I haven't had much luck at job fairs myself never seem to do well at them , always too busy and don't seem to get any good leads

wear a nice suit, spend more time on your appearance and bring your resume along with business cards. Take out the nose ring, it will make a difference in the impression you make. Be friendly, smile, ask questions, and relax. There was a job/internship fair at my college the other day and I might get an internship this summer.

Yes. You should wear a skirt suit or pants suit. Conservative make up is good for appearance. Also, you should be wearing a bra to present a professional image.

You should find out which companies are there. You should register on the companies website. You need to bring business cards with your name and contact info with job title.

Since you are changing careers, it is not a good idea to say that you are looking for anything.

Definitely wear business casual. I'd take off the piercing is I were you. Look as professional as you can.
