Because sport, most, are physically and mentally challenging. There's skill, technique, genuine raw talent, strength, the will to win, get over defeat or injury, understand tactics/strategy, its not just kicking/hitting a ball around a field, for example. Playing a sport and winning something with a group of friends you've seen sacrifice so much and push themselves to the limit, is a fantastic feeling. I still have friends from a team I played with 16 years ago. That bond you have with team mates never goes.
As for watching sports, you have to understand the game, know your team, the opposition and the ref. You have an emotional investment, its your local team, the team you've supported all your life and probably your whole family have for generations. People thought I was nuts for going to New Zealand for the rugby world cup rather than getting married. Its pride, passion and most importantly bragging rights.

like watching an action movie something to get in to and its what they are brought up to like more so a gender learning thing at an early age. boys like blue so you paint there room blue as a baby and decorate it with foot balls and base balls girls like pink so you paint there rooms pink and put princess designs in it. Like girls that like sports they're parents probably weren't so religious about gender roll
Playing or watching sports?
For playing sports it depends a little on the sport. Some sports are just lots of fun to play. Others are just for the challenge and accomplishment, and the satisfaction of finally getting it right. Some are just purely physical, like a primal scream and a blast of energy taking your body to the limits.
It's also about stress relief. We are physical beings. In the modern world sitting around watching television, sitting in an office, sitting in front of the computer - that's all totally unnatural for the human animal. We just aren't built for that either physically or mentally. Sports help compensate for that unnatural use of our bodies. It's no wonder that gyms have popped up everywhere as our lifestyle becomes more and more sedate.
Pushing your body to the limit is extremely satisfying.
I don't really enjoy sports myself, being a geek and because I don't consider myself physically fit. I might have an idea why guys enjoy it since I did play football in middle school. It's that adrenaline rush and desire to put my strength and technique to test. Of course, all that is behind me now.
Then there are those guys who make a habit WATCHING sports. Do you mean those guys?
Sports fans are a little more of a mystery to me. Why they make such a huge deal out of a sports event is beyond me, but the passion they have for it is rather intriguing.

I regard life a challenge and sports as such too. It's a question of pitting yours and maybe others skill, talent and physical abilities against somebody and or somebodies. It's a way to hone those aspects of ourselves and challenge ourselves and others.
I personally can't stand sports. I like watching pool and cards but those aren't the same as other sports.
Proxity about being a gamer/nerd. don't really fit into the sports croud. Most of us play(ed) sports and know what it takes to be great, and what it feels like to compete and win. We can appreciate talent when we see it. We enjoy playing the game, and watching it.
HUMAN beings enjoy sports, because were physical beings and it fels f***ing amazing to challenge your body physically, and being social animals its fun to do it with other people.
why don't you like sports? I don't understand. We're competitive. And its a fun and safe way to let out our aggression, relieve stress, exercise, spend time with friends, etc. Sports are awesome!
not all guys like sports, I don't care for any sports, perhaps your only noticeing the "sporty" types
Sport is a surrogate for battle and it's in our genes.
It's no surprise that you wouldn't understand. Don't feel bad...you're a girl.I like them because they show off their skills and tactics.
It's an outlet for male competitiveness.
Not all guys like sports though. I don't.I think it's fun to be outside and active so I like them
How on earth did you deduce that only men like sports? do you not have female athletes at your school? women love it too. you should ask them
Because of the competitiveness.
That's the way boys compete
I don't see the appeal either
