Do you want to gain muscle or fat?
For muscle you'll want to exercise and make sure you're getting enough protein. Meat, fish, and eggs would be the best way to go, but most nuts have a good bit of fat and protein that will be a good substitute. If you're not getting enough calories then your body is going to cannibalize your muscles. Almond butter is your friend. You want the high fat so that your body isn't tempted to use the protein or break down existing muscle for energy.
For more body fat eat carbs. Icecream, beans, cereal, rice, bread, pasta. All of that will get your body to hold on to energy as fat and you'll store excess calories instead of burning them.
But really if you've lost muscle for not playing sports as much it's not that big of a deal. If you're still growing just eat when you're hungry and you should be fine.
I would only worry about being underweight if you have issues with your period. That's a sure sign that you're body is malnourished. Otherwise let your body do it's thing.
