I've used Tabata many times for many different workouts. Tabata consist of 20 seconds on 10 seconds off. You can switch the workouts your doing by rounds. Usually 4 minutes for 8 rounds or 8 minutes for 16 rounds.

It is good to mix things up. Know that most athletes do it to increase workout OR improve on certain movements.
