Who thinks I should I bulk up?

I know girls on here say there is some0one for all body types, but I'm not so sure,

Let me explain. I am 5'10 and weigh 119lbs. My last girlfriend called me boney, which really hurt, and when she started referring to me as that to her female friends I left.

Since then I have taken the decision I really have to bulk up. No woman will want to be held by a girl with a lower bmi than her. My confidence has been shattered by these comments and feel no one can find me physically attractive.

Does anyone agree? Particularly interested in the female perspective.

as a guy that has been the same size (110 when I was sick & couldn't eat for a week), yeah you will have more opportunities if you gain some muscle and tone out.

if you can get to 140 you will look a lot bigger than you are and you will be a lot stronger than currently.

gaining 20 will get you checked out randomly by good looking chicks.

just remember that gaining 20 will take more work than most people think if your natural weight is only around 120. 20/120=16% of your current weight. for perspective, this is like a person that weighs 200 trying to lose ~35 lbs. it is more difficult than people think. you will have to eat a lot and work out a lot. if you haven't been working out, you will even lose a bit of weight at first but stay with it.

the other major problem that you & most of us thin guys have is the self doubt & lack of confidence issue. STOP THAT AT ONCE. carry yourself like a pimp and have some confidence. even if it is an act, appearing confident is more important than overall looks. if you need some inside confidence, girls that have some 'experience' and want 'mr big' will pick out thin guys because they know what's up downstairs on guys without the beer gut.

do remember that there really are some nice girls that aren't shallow but you are going to have to select them based on their size because you are right about most girls not being attracted to a guy smaller than them.

I'm 5'10" and 155 and people call me thin, of course I'm not really thin but I do run and lift weights but that is half the battle. Diet is the other half, you need a combination of a very high protein diet, high calorie diet. You will need that to put on weight and gain body mass to build muscle mass. About the whole confidence thing, don't let your confidence be shattered. Obviously your previous girl friends find you attractive. If you do start working out make sure its for you and to feel better about yourself and it makes you happy. Then you will enjoy doing it and get healthier in the process. Best of luck!

Just going by the numbers it does seem like you are very thin, but unless you are having health problems because of it , you shouldn't bulk up unless you yourself want to be more muscular etc. I just think it's very hard to stick to any kind of exercise/diet regime if you're doing it for someone else (I do think everyone should eat well and exercise but for health reasons). But to be fair you will probably be more generically attractive, so I guess it will increase your odds.

I personally never had a body type preference... I've dated skinny to obese, shorter than me to entirely too tall... For me attraction is 90% face. My biggest issues with how in shape a guy is more has to do with his activity level... I am a very active person so I don't do well with couch potatoes, but weight can be all over the place for that. I can't tell you if my opinion is typical of most women or not, but I am a female.

Anyway good for you for dumping your ex, I get that some girls might feel like it's OK to tease a guy about weight since men aren't "supposed to be" self-conscious about that kind of stuff, but it sounds like she did it way too much, and around other people is beyond crossing a line; it's just shitty and disrespectful.

BUT personally no, I wouldn't be attracted to you. Thin men aren't for me. I prefer over weight to underweight actually. I like being the thin one and I think men are more attractive when they're muscular.

Should you base your life on what people tell you though? Probably not. Your ex sounds like a twat and if you're fine with being thin then don't change.

I think that you should do what makes you feel good. You can't take the opinion of one girl and let it get to you, because everyone has their preferences. Sure she was a total b*tch about it, but not everyone is like that. If you want to bulk up, do it for you, not for anyone else. Just make sure that whatever you're doing, you're doing properly and safety. Health first, looks second. :)

Protein is not the best option here because its foe muscle wear and tear to rebuild

Without any wear and tear the protein won't be as effective not saying that it doesn't work but it is a waste of money because for all I know is that protein shakes are really expensive

Eating a high carb diet helps a lot more
