Does the media show the type of women that other women aim to be or what men love?

In some cases, yes.
Here's what you have to realize: Superficial people are worth less. The media doesn't promote that because then businesses wouldn't be making money. Many men are so small minded and shallow that in their minds, the trigger to their heart is "exotic looking, beautiful, skinny women". That's sad because many exotic looking, beautiful, skinny women don't even fulfill the true purpose of a women. Not only do they not possess the skill to take care of the ones they love, but they may not even possess the most simple beauty such as grace, LOYALTY, and honor. If a man is so small minded and superficial to look past that for a beautiful girl, then you should question his own internal value. Does he posses something bigger than surface worth? Does he even take the time to contemplate what that means or does he act on the belief that your outer accomplishments determine your value?
There is a whole psychology behind the media's images. It's business, darling. Don't take it personal. There are people with psychology, sociological, and communications degree who make their living off of studying society and producing the images that the media promotes. Business make their money by playing off of people's emotions. It's the oldest trick in the book.
The media shows people that don't exist in the real world. Everything is exaggerated from looks to personalities because its for ENTERTAINMENT.
The media portrays women that people will want to watch. If people watch them, the industry gets paid.
Since viewers aren't demanding of the quality of TV they watch the industry simply keeps pumping out what people KEEP watching.
Basically What you see in the media and TV are Larger than life characters. Behind them are writers makeup and Photoshop.

Exotic + skinny = Lupita Nyong'o. Or at least she's the current buzz. She's gorgeous, but i'm all for embracing yourself. We can't all look the same, or be the same. She said "real beauty is having compassion of yourself and others."
