The pictures show part of a large folly of mostly Italian buildings found in an overgrown woodland on a steep hillside in North Wales. They were constructed over 25 years by a guy humping bags of concrete up the slope until he was in his 80s. Unsurprisingly was considered a bit nuts by the locals. There's been over 200 items of various sizes found so far.
My question is do you know anyone with a hobby that people consider obsessive or even label them mad for?

Yes I think so. I am really big into film photography and film
So I have this giant collection of old cameras and I'm self teaching myself on how to restore some of the worse ones.
I caught the film bug from my great gandpa. (Who is 87 years old) He taught me everything, from taking the perfect shot to development of the film.
He is still very much alive and still teaching me stuff. I enjoy spending so much time with him. Every two weekends we go out and set-up our cameras on some lake or some outdoorsy nature scene. From wildlife to waterfalls.
My dream is to one day to have a business selling my photos and/or have them hanging in a gallery.
I want to be a famous film photographer
Some of my friends pick on me because I love these old film cameras so much. They always say digital is so much better and the camera comes with your phone now. They say I should get with the modern times.
If you see me on the street. I always have at least 2 cameras always with me.
It depends. Around this part of the country, no one thinks anything of it. If you go to either coast of the US or anywhere outside of the country, they definitely think I'm nuts.
Sometimes when people read my writing, they think I'm nuts because one of my genres is horror and I write dark and disturbing. Part of writing is to use sight, sound, smell, touch, and taste. but people get grossed out by those sense. Hey, the way I see it, if I can make someone cringe and say, Ewww, gross! The reader has just visualized being there! That should make me a decent writer, lol

That said, almost every single of my hobbies people think I am crazy. I guess it's more the obsession behind my zeal go going after them , rather than the hobbies themselves.
My hobby (sport?) is surfing - and it is a little dangerous People think I am crazy in that you can drown or get concussed fairly easily if you are not careful. Also - a car can and will kill you if you are not careful crossing Pacific Coast Highway carrying your board on you shoulder.
Making groovy patterns on my toys (Penrose Cube, Skewb, Megaminx, Rubik’s Cube, Mastermorphix). Drinking my own piss. Brushing my teeth with piss. Eating the yellow dried petals of dandelions. Sungazing. Speaking Jewish to my Deutsche comrade. Being obsessed with maths. Usiŋ olde ƿords and letters ðat are used no more.
We have such a huge music collection we need to live in houses with an extra bedroom just to store everything, and even then it is still not big enough.
