Whats the best way of dealing with an overly critical mother in law who makes snide comments about your height and ethnicity?

I'm thinking of inviting my sister over for Christmas for some back up because I know she'd throttle that whore if she starts.

Like enough with the alcoholic, potato and leprechaun jokes. I know she wanted her son to marry the 6ft tall prom queen miss America contestant ex model with a masters degree that he dated a few years ago but he married me and I'm not going anywhere.

Ignore her and move on.

Speak with your husband and have him address it one on one with his mom before hand.

If she continues during the event, have your husband address it.

If he won’t, then you will have to kick it up a notch. I would take a more sarcastic approach….. and just start enthusiastically laughing at her comments. My take, She keeps doing it because she can and has figured out it gets under your skin/bothers you and your husband hasn’t spoken with her to let her know that is not ok.

Don't rise to it, it prob what she's after to make her son see you lash at her, I'd say just smile because you won and she didn't, that will always be you victory over her.

Be overly affectionate with him when she's near by, not so much he can see you are winding her up but like you are romantically when she's not around.

Don't let your sister say anything it could make things worse and if they do there could be a fight between your sister, his mum and him and you will be stuck in the middle of it.

The worse thing is the mother can always play the simpathy card, pretend she's fragile.

So stick to the silent torture, be affectionate with her son when she's looking but subtle so he doesn't know you are doing it to wind her up.

What does her son say? Is he willing to stand up to her for you? Ask her to stop?

Let her know how great the sex is with her son and that she's looking old. Tell her to stay out of the sun, it's causing wrinkles

The best way is that your husband puts his mother in her place. He doesn't have to be disrespectful but he should demand his mother's respect and defend his own wife from mean and snide comments.
