I’m “allergic” to turkey so I guess ham. It is definitely way better to me though it’s been a good while since I’ve had it. That picture is giving me the hankering for some, mmmm and a little Cesar’s pizza, simple pepperoni half cut shared with the cheese sticks. Oh donkey! It’s been FAR too long since I’ve had that heavenly cheesy deliciousness. I need me a box ASAP. If only I could be an obese cat for the next 6-18 hours and just sleep until the time comes. And of course my nacho cheese Doritos to top it all off, a little appetizer if you will.
Turkey because it is the only time of year I get to eat it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Sure lol
Pork is my favorite meat, yet, it's so bad for our health. I'd rather eat ham, but I eat turkey because it's more healthy. 🦃🍁🍂
yup bacon is very fatty but if trim and grill and small amounts, then enjoy some.
Comparing 4 ounce servings, the turkey does have about a dozen less calories, but some of them are carb calories. The pork will give you more protein, a little more fat, and almost no carbs. "Modern" pork has less fat than pork of years gone by. It's really a fairly good choice, especially if you have meat from the loin and trim all visible fat. Disclosure: I do not have any connection with the Pork Producers. I have recently started using ground pork for many of our dishes that call for ground beef. (The ground pork I get is a very different cut than bacon flats.). Many of the "helper" meals in a box say to brown the ground beef and drain the fat. When I cook my ground pork, there is never any fat TO drain. When I weight out meat, I will use 14 ounces of ground pork ($1.99/pound!!! ) for recipes that call for 16 ounces of ground beef and get the same amount of cooked, browned meat. Also, I now make all my own pork sausage from ground pork and save 50-66% on my pork sausage. If both are offered, I will usually eat both. The other thing to consider is the calorie count of the gravy you put ON the turkey.
@Massageman
I thought pork was so bad because of the nitrates and nitrites in them. That's why I stay away. Plus, what do pigs eat? Nasty slop! Then we eat them. It just doesn't sound healthy.
Thank you for taking to write your informative info. on my question.

The nitrates/nitrites are in PROCESSED pork such as sausage and bacon. You could try uncured bacon. There is a "semi-technicality" insofar celery (and , therefore, celery JUICE) do have some degree of naturally occurring nitrate compounds, so the maker can use celery juice as a precursor curing agent and still make a "legal" claim that no other nitrates//nitrates have been added. I work with pure ground pork. The only processing has been the grinding.
Turkey is the top favorite with bread dressing, however ever holds a very close 2nd place.

One of the problems with roasting a whole turkey is that the meat is ready when it hits 165ºF+. BUT- the connective tissue that holds the joint together doesn't break down until the temp hits 180ºF+. There is something to be said for getting a pre-formed turkey roast, but then that adds an extra step in the processing of the bird parts. At least it will ALL be ready at the same temp! When I carved our bird this year, I let each breast half steep in the pan juice for a few minutes before cutting, and that helped improve the moisture content.
(A good thing to remember when cooking pulled pork (shoulder cut, usually) in a crock-cooker- just ignore it until it hits 180ºF- about 5 hours of our cooker- or the connective tissue will stay connected. Higher than that point, and it will literally fall apart with a tiny pull.).
@Massageman Thanks for giving me the cooking hints
No problemo - enjoy!
I prefer turkey. Ham tastes so salty. I imagine it's high in sodium also. That's why I don't need Campbells soup, it's nothing but salt. I had some Campbell's clam chowder one day, and it tasted like stale potatoes. Yuck!
But I digress. Turkey taste so much better. And if cooked right, it's juicey and goes great on a sandwich.
we get both... and also fish, and some more...
I usually get much more of the ham, turkey is not among my favorites although it is great too
@NathanDavis
I have a stupid question to ask you (because I think of this when eating 🐟 fish) do you ever wonder if you are eating a girl fish or a boy fish? Would they taste the same?
@NathanDavis
Ok 👍👌 the question has been asked 🤢🐟. Now will you answer it please?
I know I'm late but turkey. Pineapple ham is saved for Christmas and Easter.
Turkey- especially drumstick.
Most people don’t know how to properly cook a turkey to make it moist and juicy
I usually smoke mines and it took me a while to perfect it but I had a great Guinea pig my little sister hates turkey because it’s so dry
so when she liked my turkey I knew it was perfect 👌
I like putting a beer can inside a chicken's ass putting it on the barbecue I don't know if I should put that on there cuz I'm only 15 and I don't know if that considers underage drinking hopefully this is okay
I think I prefer ham as a main protein, but we always have a turkey. It's in the smoker right now :-).
I think it's just easier to make delicious leftover dishes with ham versus turkey. It will certainly be enjoyed though :-)
I don't eat pork due to the physiological effect it has on humans. though I do occasionally eat bacon which of course is pork but 1 it is really good and 2 I don't eat it often enough to cause long term issues
@JacobJordan
If you cook it right, Turkey bacon 🥓 taste pretty close to pork bacon only probably healthier for us to eat. My son loves it.
I don't get to do Thanksgiving , but at Christmas time I really love Ham off the bone , real Ham , I like to think of it , it would be a rare occasion Id eat Turkey.
i can't taste the difference. until now always turkey due to society "turkey day" but this year i switched to ham and found ham preferable.
when people in my family make turkey is tastes like tree bark.
We always have Turkey on Thanksgiving and ham on Christmas
Oh nice! Happy Thanksgiving
Happy Thanksgiving to you too
Thank you xoxo
def turkey, ham is good but i consider it more of an Christmas dinner
I prefer either, really doesn't matter I've had goat on Thanksgiving and it was great so whatever meat I'm mostly cool with
I can have ham anytime… Thanksgiving is for turkey.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Pork is not unhealthy if you eat the right cut. A lean pork fillet has less fat and more protein than a chicken breast.
Interesting info
Turkey, it still tastes good like ham n is poultry so it may b healthier than ham which is red meat.
Well Said.
Turkey for Thanksgiving ham or rib roast for Christmas.
Ham. Only recently have I started liking turkey.
