Do Men Really want Stepford Wives?

For those of you who don't know the term, its basically a woman who acts like a robot, who cooks, cleans, and does everything a man tells her to do and she always looks good 100%- fit, flawless, etc. Do men really want their wives to essentially be robots? Why or why not? Also, if you could change a few things about your wife, what would it be? What are some things you love about her?

No. The Stepford Wives was really a feminist film designed to encourage women to abandon marriage and traditional gender roles. There were many other movies like that which sold similar ideas, and most people don't realise how many of their ideas actually come from Hollywood movies.

Hollywood movies are mostly made-up. There was never a time when women acted like robots and did everything men said. There is now, in parts of the Middle East where women are threatened with violence and even sometimes death if they don't do as told - but we certainly don't want that.

What most men want are women who are generally feminine, and that's all. You can be strong-minded, opinionated, smart etc. and be feminine. We just don't want feminists who think that rejecting absolutely everything to do with traditional femininity is a good idea.

Even feminist women, despite their encouragement towards men to "challenge gender stereotypes", are turned off by a guy who is not masculine at all right? Common topics here are about who pays for the first date, who approaches first, who pursues who. Even the feminist women will say that they prefer the man to pay for the first date, to be approached first and to be pursued. Why? Because it makes them feel like a woman. They want men in those situations to act in a more traditional manner because it makes those women feel good, and they'll avoid dating guys who don't.

Does that mean that they want men to treat them like robots and sex dolls? No. Too many people talk about these things in black/white terms. As if you're either a strong independent feminist who don't need no man, or you're a complete doormat, when there's a middle ground.

For men it's the same thing. Men still find femininity attractive. Just like those men acting in a somewhat traditionally masculine manner makes those women feel good, women acting in a somewhat traditionally feminine manner makes men feel good. It's an exchange. There are men who have a problem with the above expectations of women, and that's because there are many women who expect that without doing the same thing in return, and that's a one-way thing. That's what we find unattractive. And when single, for those of us with options we'll avoid such women. But again here, it has nothing to do with wanting women to be 100% submissive at all times.

Uhm... for lack of better, yes, but no I'd want a friend I can talk to and a more balanced relationship.

That said I do struggle with some... scratch that, I suck at all of it, so it's hard to say I wouldn't like if she did a lot of that stuff and was okay with it ^^
