My boyfriend asked me to marry him now all he is bothered about is how much the wedding will cost?

We went to see one lovely place not long after we got engaged. We both loved it and got excited but it was a lot of money. Now we are 8 months into being engaged and we’ve not made any plans or even set a date.

He has become obsessed with money and saving for a house and so he can go self employed.

I earn more money and he seems to be relying on the future monies I’m going to be bringing in to get the house etc. Not focusing more on what he can do to bring in more money.

When I mentioned about the wedding venue he just said “we’ll have to see about money” and completely shut me down. My mom has said I need to be careful he doesn’t use me for money and then drop me.

I don’t know what to think about all this…

because we are facing big inflation of everything. even housing. self employment is a dream, he should have that at the very very end of his list. it's not happening during this time. money is so bad right now.

how do you know he's not focusing on how to bring in more money? you said he's saving...

the way i see it is that right now is not a good time for marriage. you two also need to talk about what you want out of that instead of just pushing it under the rug.
