You don't. You SHOULD be afraid of marriage. Honestly, discover who you are and, once you do, you will be happy with the freedom you have being single and you and then having to sacrifice who you are for the sake of a marriage.

That's just a sad attitude, though I have to admit it's kind of justified these days, especially for men. But if a successful marriage is still possible, the "sacrifice" will be more like a "high-return investment".

Well... If this fear does not include an innermost unwillingness to get married at any point in Your life, the solution would be to pick the right man (OK, that's the tough part, I know it myself, just about women, but both the right men and the right women definitely do exist) and get to know Him the best You can. If You know the person You are marrying well enough before the marriage, chances are that nothing truly dramatic will ever happen. Having parents who were toxic to each other is painful and implies a risk of repeating the pattern, but if it can be toned down to fights, it's perfectly fine. Fights will happen, and there's nothing wrong with it. People are not perfect, and from time to time, disputes will emerge. If they can be respectfully or at least productively resolved, it's perfectly fine. Also, it's good to go for the traditional, purely religious marriage, it's based on mutual trust and virtually free from external impact, so if You can both agree to it, it's going to bode well for the future.
