I got a text from his wife. I somewhat feel bad but I think it's time to let go of everything. What should I do?

I once was in contact with a married man. I met him through a friend when they were dating but when they broke up I didn't hear from him anymore. 6 years passed and he somehow texted me again and we started talking. We talked on and off. Nothing serious from my side but he always used to say things like I like u and portray like he wasn't happy with his marriage. I talked to him out of sympathy and boredom which I know is wrong. We also hung out 3-4 times but nothing happened between us. Though it seemed like he wanted more from me. He had an extra number just to text me but recently his wife texted me and called me multiple times from that number. I asked him once why should he hide anything when we are just friends but he said his wife wouldn't understand as she is always skeptical about everything and since his profession was of an advocate he always had to talk to female clients too and didn't want to tell everything to his wife. I do feel bad for his wife for not knowing anything but I don't want to get in anyone's family issue. His wife texted me from his number saying she wants to talk to me. What should I do?
