My crush's birthday is coming up. What can I get him?

I transferred to this high school (I'm a junior) and I sort of reunited with my old classmate from elementary school. We never talked back then but now we do. Well sort of. In the beginning of the school year, we were messaging each other almost daily. He gave me the nickname "little owl." Then suddenly he stopped talking to me.
Now we are slowly getting back to talking to each other but it has never been the same as the beginning of the school year. The nickname is gone as well.
However, since he is my crush (and maybe my friend?), I thought it'd be nice to get him something for his birthday to hopefully fix whatever happened. I don't know much about him except these:
-loves Starbucks
-favorite color is maroon
-favorite animals are raccoons, weasels, baby goats, kangaroos, hedgehogs (he also said "owls are pretty sweet too" so maybe owls should be included)
-plays soccer

I want to get him a gift that's not too expensive or too obvious [that I like him]. What can I give him? Or should I just not give him anything?

P. S. I don't know if this is needed but there is this one girl who hangs out with him occasionally who gives me mean looks. We never talked but I don't want to get her angry or anything because of something I did for my crush.

Yeah, I think I know why he stopped talking to me but I can't be for sure. Also in the beginning of the school year, two other girls hung out with him. During the time that he stopped talking to me, I noticed that every time we'd be in the same area (me, the two girls, and my crush), one of the girls would look in my direction then suddenly all of them would look in my direction then suddenly turn away as if they never looked in my direction. (Sorry it was a long sentence. I just sort of spat it out of my brain.) That happened a few times. The mean looks from that one girl never stopped but the other girl began saying hi to me every now and then.
Recently, I noticed that my crush no longer hangs out with the two girls and now hangs out with more guys. Also, we are ever so slowly beginning to talk to each other, just not in person.
