When I was a kid, I figured that I'd be a famous drummer in a rock band with a lot of million-selling records to my name and I'd be rich and famous with a wife and a bunch of kids!! I'm way past 38 now and, so far, all I've had of that dream is being a drummer in a rock band that COULD'VE made it if our singer hadn't been so scared of being famous!! Sadly, I didn't discover that until shortly after he died!! We came close, though!!
At 38, I was still seeing my future ex-fiance and was madly in love with her. We took a 4 hour buss ride west twice that summer just to go see a couple of concerts (Todd Rundgren and then King Crimson), my band was playing lots of gigs in Erie and Youngstown and we'd just finished recording and releasing our second album the year before. Life was great and, although there were SOME aspects of it I WOULDN'T want to live through again, for the most part, I'd go back in a heartbeat!!
I really feel no different today except for the edema in my feet and no one to love.

38 was the year of great change for me, although at the time I did not know it.

I believe I hit my mid-life crisis at 37. I gained a new perspective, mostly boiled down to "If not now, then when?" as far as doing things. But also it was about owning my shit.

I had a rough life up to that point and I was still struggling paycheck to paycheck. While I can maintain how everything was not my fault, I realized that it didn't matter whose fault it was. In the end it was still my fault for making bad decisions, like dating the wrong girl, trusting the wrong people, etc.

It's not about self-pity, but quite the opposite.. it was about fixing my life. I made some dramatic changes between 38-45, a lot of them were slow or took time to take effect, but the majority of mental changes I went through were at 38.

I'm not sure mine ever ended. Rather than fight against it, I embraced it. I didn't just buy the sports car, I did it all - and still do it as much as the post-pandemic world allows at least.

How did I feel 4 years ago? Clearly like a whole different person! I mean going from 30s to 40s suddenly everything just feels different and yet in some ways still the same.

Eventually you hit some sort of midlife crisis or something. You grow your hair out, go by a new fancy name, get yourself some expensive clothes and maybe a sports car and just try to live out a life you feel like you missed out on. If I ever get a fancy sports car I will also needlessly gender it female and say she purrs like a kitten.

Oh and aviator shades. Can't forget those.

I hope that by the time I'm 38 I'll be living in a decent country with decent people and with more quality of life. Also, I want to have my own place, my car, my friends and hopefully a job that I like with a good paycheck. At least good enough to pay for all my essential expenses. I expect to be at peace with myself and living my life to the fullest!

As you get older, the years fly faster. 38 for me, just zipped by, but exciting things were happening. When I was 18, I was going nowhere, both career-wise and social-wise. I was withdrawn, depressed, and considering suicide. A couple of years later, things started opening up. I got a new job, moved away from my parents, moved to a new area, and started breaking out of a lot of shells. I learned and did things I had been too afraid to try years before. I started talking to girls, learned about relationships through trial and error, eventually got married, and had two daughters. Career-wise, I was moving up the ladder. By the time I was 38, I felt I had accomplished everything I ever wanted to do. Physically, I was still in pretty good shape.

When I was in high school, I did nothing, other than show up for class. Those were horrible times. After graduation, I had no ‘plan’, or anything, but realized I needed to get a better education, and at least move away from my parents, who were a bad influence on me. After getting away from them, things just started falling into place for me. Maybe things will fall in place for you in the future.

It’s been a year of ups and downs dude. The past 1.5 years have really been wild. Work wise 38 is miles better than 37. My sex life got a jump start when I turned 38 so that is awesome. I discovered G@G when I was 38, that has been a roller coaster in and of itself.

It seems to me that 38+ is the best time of life. A person is unsure of themselves in their 20's. Many spend their whole 20's going to college and trying to find themselves. In their 30's they are usually working and climbing up the ladder. At 38+ they are at the top of their game.

When I turned 38, I had been working for an great company for 11.5 years. I was earning a great salary and benefits, had a company car and worked in the field, so I had a lot of freedom. I was a motor vehicle claims adjuster.

Because the job had initially been such a dramatic lifestyle change, I had put on weight and didn't like myself for about 5 years. But by age 35, I had gotten myself together, lost the weight, and gotten in good shape. I lived in an apartment that I really liked, was working out a lot, getting brown lying by the pool, and I started dating again.

When I was 37, I met a woman who was the most amazing woman I had ever known. I mean AMAZING! I kept my apartment but began virtually living with her at the house she was renting. My time with her was a major pinnacle in my life. We lived together for over a year, so I was with her when I turned 38. My life couldn't have been better.

It crushed me though. She was the only woman I ever loved with my entire heart, soul and fiber of my being. She loved me, too.

@RasberrySlushPuppy. She moved out of state. 20 years later she found me on Facebook. We became FB friends and even spoke on the phone a few times. The sound of her voice took me straight back to when we had been together. She was dynamic and had become very informed about many things. I enjoyed her FB posts and or interactions. It was a joy to be in contact and to know that she was happy and pursuing her dreams.
Five years later, I read that she had passed away at age 56 from a sudden medical problem. I was devastated. It left a hole in my heart that will never heal. I will never stop loving her and will never forget her. I still visit her FB page on occasion as if visiting her grave.

My 38th year of life was probably the worst I've lived through.
My wife became pregnant.
I was firmly against it happening in the first place, and was assured by my wife that it wouldn't, but it did happen.
I accepted it and moved on with life, but yeah, not a good year.

When I was age 38 I was out of my head, I believe within the first years now of my life in the past 2 years since I'm taking head medication for my mental illnesses I feel great except the day drowsiness but I can handle it

Hrmm. 38, for me that was 38 years ago for me.

1983 was a rebuilding year. 1978 was when my racing accident was and it was about 5 years before I got the halo off. I had sold all of my racing equipment, tools, and cars, to pay hospital bills. In another 5 years from 1983, I lost my wife to cancer. Many of those memories are painful, some are non-existant.

my uncle did play soccer with us till age 45, and he was still in top shape... but then he got some issues with sugar levels and that was genetic, many older adults in my family, both sides have some issues that are mostly genetic so that's my priority... to stay in shape and to be more fit... and that's my only concern about aging, health.

At age 40 I still feel like I'm 21. lol I'm fortunate, I guess, but a big key to that is staying active. My dad is 74 now and he said he didn't start feeling older until he was about 55. Hopefully it's the same for me.

As for your question, unfortunately, age 38 was kind of uneventful, but I was (and still am) doing all the things I was doing without aches and pains like I was when I was 21.

It’s hard to predict how I’ll feel a decade from now, but I’ll imagine it would be pretty nice. My wealth will have most likely increased. I will most likely have kids by then. I will have become closer to god. I will have become stronger with my soon to be wife. Don’t fret too hard. My grandma and grandpa got married in their 40s. At least you have a degree despite the debt associated. If you have your health, then that’s something to consider too.
