What's the best way to gift a car?

My aunt's birthday is on Monday and since she's been without a car since last month, I thought it'd be nice to gift her one.

I found this used Range Rover Evoque Discovery for a real steal, so I bought it and stored it into one of out company's yards.

Looks new and it's a really good drive, I've already insured it under my aunt's name (didn't say a word to her, got her papers through some light lie), already paid the tax mark and when I'll give it to her I'll sign the handover to the Motor autorities.

The thing I was wondering is, how to break out the surprise to her? Once she saw the car my mother said she didn't expect this when I talked about getting a used car and that there's the chance my aunt will refuse it.

She also hammered a bit the fact that I never bought her a car and that if my aunt won't accept it she'd be more than happy to "sacrifice herself" and take it.

She was very happy.
I showed it to her and she said "So you got yourself another car" and I asked her if she wanted to try it.
She didn't want to because she feared she'd ruin "my" car, I told her that I made a "mistake' when buying and I registered it as hers...
She teared up but she accepted it nonetheless!

I can definitely understand why your mother is jealous haha.

As far as your question goes, I would just drive it up and park it in front of her house. Act like you're going to visit her. When she comes out to greet you, show her the new car (as if it's yours). Then just have the visit with her. Then tell her that you are going to leave now and call a taxi (by telephone, so she can hear you.) Then when she is confused and asks you why you are leaving by taxi and why you are leaving your new car at her house, tell her that it is HER car! 😉

Yep, I really like it and I paid it very little compared to a new one, it was really a bargain. I let my mother try it around the truck yard, but comments aside she said it's a nice gift and her sister deserves it.

Park it outside her house in the morning. Go in and ask if she'd like to go out for coffee or tea. As you leave the house, ask her to drive in "her" car and hand her the keys.
