Why are the wifes on Breaking Bad such bitches?

Skyler is everything a wife should never be. non-understanding, cynical, always trying to find away of saying he doesn't care about her and the family when he obviously is giving everything up for them.

He lied to her to protect her, because he knew she couldn't handle it. And when he finally became comfortable enough to tell her what was going on, she started making things difficult for him.

I don't get why Walt gets such a bad wrap by the way. He was a good guy trying to do a good thing who was turned into a hard and callous person because of his experiences. Everything he did was to put his family above all else and people are gonna start crying about him bcause he killed some drug cartel guys WTF

Unfortuantely, it's still the reality: the prude and the whore covers most modern US women, even today.
Breaking bad was popular because, as you point out, it was gritty.. touched on the reality of life for many people, unlike the fantasy police dramas and glorifying the CIA stuff we get otherwise.

Honestly, I thought Marie was the craziest and she is also a total hypocrite. Her obsession for purple kind of drove me nuts. I kind of felt sorry for Skylar because Walt did put his family in great danger. It's maternal instincts to protect her babies and so she did at the end. I probably would be more bitchy than her if I found out my husband makes serious drugs. However, she has no right to cheat on her husband. That Ted guy I swear, biggest coward in that t. v show, can't take any responsibility for his actions. She was just scared because most spouses view their man to be the protectors of the household and Walt failed at that.

I thought Skyler was greedy and a bit vindictive, but Walt was pure evil.

I'd be really bitchy too if my husband had a secret life as a meth dealer putting my life, my son's life, my and sister's life in danger AND got my brother in law and his partner murdered in this process.

And the best part was that he admitted that the reason he did it was because he liked doing it.

Walter White was a manipulative, sociopathic, narcissist.

I hated HATED Skylar. Marie I was okay with, but ya. I HATED Skylar. I get that Walt did not let her know what was going on and he was only trying to provide for his family. But Skylar fucked Ted! That made me hate her so much.

Marie is just a neurotic character used I think partially for some comic relief. I don't blame Skylar for being freaked the f*ck out over Walt's transformation, what he does, and what he's capable of. I don't think any of the characters on Breaking Bad are perfect or ideal, they all have their own morals and faults. Skylar is pretty cunning though and I agree with what someone said that it's her morals that annoy Walt.

I love the show though and think Walt is a very interesting character :)

Why does everyone think Skyler is a bitch? Walt LIED to her over and over and over. Her life was flipped upside-down because of his business and eventual desire to be God. People don't like to see non-submissive strong women. They just want to empathize with main character, even if he is a drug lord, murdering, control freak. Granted... I LOVED WALT, but I loved him as his own villain who destroyed his and his families world...

Myself and girls my age (late 20s) can barely identify with Jessie Pinkman unless we're in that specific drug subculture. I get his mindset more than Walt, but ehhhhh...

You do realize that the concept of the show was to let us, the audience, witness a man we sympathize with, gradually become a villain. Vince Gilligan, the creator and main screenplay writer of the show, himself said that Walter is a terrible person.

Haven't you seen the last episode? The scene in which he and Skyler talk for the last time? That scene brought closure to it all. You seem to have misunderstood the whole idea of the show. What a shame.

so far.. it seems like Walt is doing everything he has to do. he isn't killing people for no reason.

I can't say I would continue cooking like he does. I would quit cooking after the Tuko situation.
