Accidentally texted a female coworker late at night, and it was something inappropriate?

So first off, I'm married, and that makes this whole situation so much more embarrassing.

Last night I had a long day and stayed up late playing video games. While I was playing. A buddy of mine asked if the new girl at work was hot or not (he had been on vacation for the past week and she started last week).

Of course; I decided to text back and answer his question. So I thought I shot him back a text saying "yep, new girl is incredibly beautiful"... but long and behold. I accidentally texted the new girl.

See this past weekend. Most of the team I work with (including the new girl), and I went to a conference out of town for work. No one wanted to show her the ropes about how to deal with clients and so I did; since I'm a manager.

Conference ends late Saturday and I'm starving. So she, a few others and I all go out to dinner. Since we're in vegas, I decided to also go gamble since it was our last night. So I took off after dinner to explore. Before I got too far off; the new girl came running up behind me. Asking me if she could join. Since she never gambled before. Me being the overly nice individual couldn't say no and made it a rule to have two drinks, teach her for an hour and go home just to be safe.

Any who, I kept to my initial decision and we walked back to the hotel we were staying at. She of course had more to drink than I thought, and told me she thought I was sexy. I of course told her she was drunk, got her to her room, and immediately left.

Next day, she apologies, and everyone flys home.

Monday comes and then the whole mistext crap happens. As seconds before my friend asks the question. She texts me apologizing for the other night. Now I'm in a predicament and don't know how to proceed. She smiled at me today and came to talk to me today. Now I feel like she thinks there's something between and I have no idea what to do beyond to tell her no.

Sigh... got a buddy in HR. Guess I'll be sending him a heads up just for the record book. He's good about being cool unless there's something to worry about, but it's good to have record of what happened just in case. This'll help in my case if either the new girl or my wife were to get upset.

I always make sure my ring is on. Never take it off except for when I'm at the gym. Didn't want to worry my wife as nothing happened and I'm not one to ever let anything happen, but I may need to. She understands that with me at conferences; especially when I work with young people such as myself. People drink, but she knows I'm always faithful and come home to her. Our rule is I have to call and say good night. No matter the hour.

glad to hear. some people have diff. value male or female. you are doing the right things. also not worth risking your job to her. hope to send her off to other guys or another department and move on with your life.

Sadly I don't have sway for if she stays in our department or not, but I'll make sure to be honest with her that nothing can happen and to keep my distance. As in another reply earlier, I think I'll report the incident to my friend in Hr. Not to get her in trouble, but just to have everything on record. He's good about keeping things quiet until they need to be addressed, but this will protect me if she does attempt anything

Careful then, cause one day without you even knowing you'll be wondering why your wife doesn't get you like she does , why she doesn't appreciatte you like she does, it's not gonna take a day, it may be months, years even, but you will bang this girl furiously if you're not careful

This is actually really well said in regards what to look out for. Makes me think that I need to reevaluate my guard rails to make sure I detour away from any unwanted potential incidents.

She was at home as the conference was in vegas, and it was a 4 hour flight to get there.

After all the replies in regards to notifying my wife. I decided to tell her and she's ok with what happened. She understands that my field causes people to get close, because we travel so much together, but she trusts me. I informed her that I emailed my Hr friend who got back to me and I notified him of the situation. He drafted a report and filed it between him and me. So after that, my wife was pretty laid back about it. I also informed her that I'll make sure to keep my guardrails up a tad more as she and I both know I'm way too overly nice and have a hard time saying no. So next time, just make sure any girl who needs help getting back safely is done so, and if thinks feel off. I'll get another coworker to join us to help take the girl back to her hotel.

If your wife is understanding, then 90% of your potential problems are resolved. Make sure that the employee knows that you were not trying to flirt with her and you've done all that you can do.

I think it'll be funny to me in about a year or two, but I'm glad I brought other people enjoyment. This is definitely one of those "oh shit!" Stories that will be great for the future and not now. :p
