Yes and no. Yes because feminism definitely includes some women who are for equality in every way, but no because the name itself "feminism " does not include both gender, so how can that be equality? Being an egalitarian is what describes best how I feel.
I think a lot of women just want to be treated fairly. But because the inequality is so great, sometimes, the "scales" have to be tipped so much the other way just for women to be treated as equally/fairly as men usually are - that's why feminism doesn't include men. Men usually don't have to worry about being treated unjustly/unfairly.
I think the definition of egalitarian (relating to or believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities) is what feminists (generally speaking) want and that's why "feminism" was born.
Personally, I don't think men and women are equal. I think (as it says in the book by Josette Sona: "Are Women the Stronger Sex") women are generally "superior" to men (sorry, guys) and a lot of men are threatened by and jealous of women and want to "keep them down".
And women are getting tired of being treated like second-class citizens - and good for them. ;)
Unfortunately that's how women will become just as bad as men were with women, instead of being the better person.

there is nothing in name of science that treats woman as equal to man, let alone superior in any respect. Woman is a weak gender "it always was and always will" be but that don't mean. You should beat them or don't give them equal rights.
I would like to support your claim with science cuz if you go for history. MAN ARE USUALLY GREATEST GENERALS and MAN WON NOBLE PRIZE IN SCIENCE. The modern word is curiosity of Man and its science and Yes cooking bread don't count. If we can look at any thing in entire world there will always be MAN on top and I would love to see your science claim.

It didn't get a bad name; so much as it never had a good name to begin with. It didn't need misandrists and Marxists to infiltrate it in order to poison it. It was toxic from the start. It's accomplished nothing wholly positive. Actual progression has not come from feminism but from the advancement of technology which has lifted the burden of women's biological constraints (though feminism takes credit for the good things it had nothing to do with).
I have found there to be very little total misandry within feminism. It has always been the trope of the status quo to call all feminism misandry, and all righteous indignation or anger as hate. Women are deservedly angry about ways in which the patriarchy continues to keep women in a second class status. We aren't obligated to be nice about it, or sit quietly waiting to be heard.
Feminism "got a bad name" the moment a woman first asserted that she wasn't a doormat.

If we live in a patriarchy designed to keep women down, it should be fired immediately because it's doing a terrible job.

Oh, that's simple to answer. You both agreed to share all assets and debts jointly when you got married - if you live in a community property state. If you didn't know that when you got married, that's on you for not doing your homework, and not getting a prenup. If you have chosen to marry a woman who makes less or no money, that's on you too. The laws aren't written to favor either gender, but rather to ensure the less economically advantaged partner doesn't get left destitute. That just tends to be the woman, partly because of the remaining gender pay gap. But most American divorces do not generally end with someone paying alimony anymore because in most marriages both partners work and can support themselves individually.

I bet most here don't know where feminism came from or how it got started. It got its start from a banker and his classmate in order to destabilize and cut the population which it has done exactly that, that's why the system setup against men and men aren't part of the family unit anymore. Non coincidentally that's how the age of consent came along too. The age of consent laws aren't Christina laws at all, you won't find one reference to age consent laws anywhere in the Christian bible. Well wanting equality between men and women shouldn't be a reason to hate men according to me. Hating men and saying you're feminist is in my opinion like being islamist and telling the world you're Muslim (sorry about the topic, I'm not trying to open a hatred debate towards Muslim or anything)

As a Muslim, "Islamic" terrorists are a tiny minority. Muslim armies are actively fighting against them. Christian and Jewish extremists are also a minority. Again, both group reject them. Feminists are the only ideological group not standing against their extremists and terrorists. Even MRAs stand against extremist MRAs.

That shit only happens when a person is no longer palatable. Women like Lena Dunham were higb profile feminist activists, and were routinely expressing misandry, but nobody cared in the feminist communit. Also Erin Pizzey who built the first women's shelters but was thrown out of feminist movement and threatened when she advocated making men's shelters. Also Christina Hoff Sommers whose books feminists burned. by the way, also a former feminist. Even the founder of A Voice for Men was a feminist and turned MRA. Also the Honey Badgers, a group of female MRAs who have been thrown out of conferences by feminists. None of these people are "incels" or misogynists, all are former feminists and current MRAs.

you do know that both were legal during the 50s. Rape could only be committed against someone you weren't married to, so marital rape was not illegal. Hitting your wife was also not illegal and weirdly encouraged.

@lilaqua i agree that there is no such thing as a marital rape because he's her husband, it's his right to make love with her anytime he wants unless there was some harsh reasons then no...
But in general a wife would love that her husband always make love to her but it's not by force cause it will make him like an animal...
About the beating part, nope i don't encourage it at all because a wife needs her husband to take care of her and protect her, there can be arguments sometimes and shouting but it's very hard to hurt her cause hurting her means hurting himself since they are married, she became a part of him...
What i meant from the 50's are the positive parts and not the negative parts that your showing, such as being a housewife and making her man as a 1st priority and love him from all her heart...

I just think it's an incredibly flawed ideology. And it's largely misunderstood.
Not saying women shouldn't have rights fyi. Saying feminism is simply that "women are equal" is an oversimplification and a misunderstanding of the feminist exposition, which is an assortment of varying ideas. Which is why you find so much conflict, contention and disharmony.

The problem is the radicals have been making their way into the mainstream. They used to be limited to college campuses but now you see them influencing mass media, public education, entertainment and local politics.

Actually feminism is supposed to be misandry and masculism or chauvinism is misogyny. What is their point of calling themselves a feminist? Are they saying women are superior to men? We don't claim men are superior to women nowadays so there's no need for you to call yourself a feminist.
Feminism has a lot of meaning. Feminist that hates men, feminist that wants equality that benefits them, feminist that also advocate for men's rights, etc. But the dictionary still remains truthful. Advocacy of women's rights so if you advocate more, it's an indirect misandry since mens issues aren't address.

I think a big part of the controversy is that feminism doesn't mean just one thing. Different people mean very different things by the word "feminism". I've heard a lot of people criticize feminism, but when I ask them why they describe something totally different than the feminism some of my female friends believe in.
