Yes and no. Yes because feminism definitely includes some women who are for equality in every way, but no because the name itself "feminism " does not include both gender, so how can that be equality? Being an egalitarian is what describes best how I feel.
I think a lot of women just want to be treated fairly. But because the inequality is so great, sometimes, the "scales" have to be tipped so much the other way just for women to be treated as equally/fairly as men usually are - that's why feminism doesn't include men. Men usually don't have to worry about being treated unjustly/unfairly.
I think the definition of egalitarian (relating to or believing in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities) is what feminists (generally speaking) want and that's why "feminism" was born.
Personally, I don't think men and women are equal. I think (as it says in the book by Josette Sona: "Are Women the Stronger Sex") women are generally "superior" to men (sorry, guys) and a lot of men are threatened by and jealous of women and want to "keep them down". And women are getting tired of being treated like second-class citizens - and good for them. ;)
@ConnieS Oh my God, there is nothing in name of science that treats woman as equal to man, let alone superior in any respect. Woman is a weak gender "it always was and always will" be but that don't mean. You should beat them or don't give them equal rights. I would like to support your claim with science cuz if you go for history. MAN ARE USUALLY GREATEST GENERALS and MAN WON NOBLE PRIZE IN SCIENCE. The modern word is curiosity of Man and its science and Yes cooking bread don't count. If we can look at any thing in entire world there will always be MAN on top and I would love to see your science claim.
It didn't get a bad name; so much as it never had a good name to begin with. It didn't need misandrists and Marxists to infiltrate it in order to poison it. It was toxic from the start. It's accomplished nothing wholly positive. Actual progression has not come from feminism but from the advancement of technology which has lifted the burden of women's biological constraints (though feminism takes credit for the good things it had nothing to do with).
I have found there to be very little total misandry within feminism. It has always been the trope of the status quo to call all feminism misandry, and all righteous indignation or anger as hate. Women are deservedly angry about ways in which the patriarchy continues to keep women in a second class status. We aren't obligated to be nice about it, or sit quietly waiting to be heard.
Feminism "got a bad name" the moment a woman first asserted that she wasn't a doormat.
I can accept the man can work their way around feminism and its actually done more Bad then good. We don't have to worry about dumping a G. f "just allow yourself to be caught cheating" and She will just claim power and leave you and you can happily move in next wife. US government can only make you pay the 50% of your wealth to woman, if you own it in US. You can simply take loan on the house and keep it in another BANK Overseas and when bitch comes to collect allow bank to declare you bankrupt and She won't get penny out of your pocket. We are equal then why female gain 50% of your property after divorce by claiming to be weak. I think new rule should be only to give 50% wealth if you have kids and wealth should go to your kids account not mother.
Oh, that's simple to answer. You both agreed to share all assets and debts jointly when you got married - if you live in a community property state. If you didn't know that when you got married, that's on you for not doing your homework, and not getting a prenup. If you have chosen to marry a woman who makes less or no money, that's on you too. The laws aren't written to favor either gender, but rather to ensure the less economically advantaged partner doesn't get left destitute. That just tends to be the woman, partly because of the remaining gender pay gap. But most American divorces do not generally end with someone paying alimony anymore because in most marriages both partners work and can support themselves individually.
Most definitely. It's more of a branding problem that's come with some of the goals of the Third Wave and especially with the integration of intersectionality, which may be the most divisive philosophy of social science ever when applied to it's logical end.

I bet most here don't know where feminism came from or how it got started. It got its start from a banker and his classmate in order to destabilize and cut the population which it has done exactly that, that's why the system setup against men and men aren't part of the family unit anymore. Non coincidentally that's how the age of consent came along too. The age of consent laws aren't Christina laws at all, you won't find one reference to age consent laws anywhere in the Christian bible. They are feminist eugenicist driven laws in order to curve and control the population. It's working very well too because population is disappearing especially among whites.
Yes, The main femmist you see are the femmist Nazi on tv in the street protesting and it gives femmist and bad name,
It make people think these women are crazy why would we listain to them. Honestly I think there need to be a clean up of the Femmist movement and get the radicals out of it, and go back to the 1960 versions of femmisism and not this new 3rd wave
Finally, a girl who understands 😘 Yup. Feminism = Misandry. Same goes for the definition of democrats and liberals. Same groups trying to cover up their real identity as misandristic groups. I wish there was a way ordinary people can get this word to go viral.
I don’t hate men yet I consider myself a feminist. I understand that you associate those extremists with the entire movement, but that doesn’t mean all feminists think that way.
Well wanting equality between men and women shouldn't be a reason to hate men according to me. Hating men and saying you're feminist is in my opinion like being islamist and telling the world you're Muslim (sorry about the topic, I'm not trying to open a hatred debate towards Muslim or anything)
Absolutely. Then again those misandrists are actually in the minority and I think as a society we shouldn’t be stupidly blinded by them just because they scream the loudest.
We have to keep in mind that misogynistic opportunists will always try to use this small group of misandrists who appropriate the feminist notion for their alterior agenda to build an oppositional force toward the entire feminist movement and propagate their hostilities towards the empowerment of women.
As a Muslim, "Islamic" terrorists are a tiny minority. Muslim armies are actively fighting against them. Christian and Jewish extremists are also a minority. Again, both group reject them. Feminists are the only ideological group not standing against their extremists and terrorists. Even MRAs stand against extremist MRAs.
Ok, show me an example of feminists excommunicating another feminist, and telling her she is no longer a feminist, because she has gone too far!
That shit only happens when a person is no longer palatable. Women like Lena Dunham were higb profile feminist activists, and were routinely expressing misandry, but nobody cared in the feminist communit. Then it turned out she sexually abused her little sister... and everyone lost her mind. It. didn't matter that she was a blatant manhater before though.
Feminists don't drop people because they have moral integrity, they do it to avoid controversy.
And what are you? Nothing. A drop in the ocean. You have no power within the feminist movement. If you were a manhater, that wouldn't change anything either. Little people do little things, and they matter very little, too. Come back when yoi have an example of a feminist who is actually influential dropping other feminists just because they were misandrists, and not because they were called out on it.
@princessfromjupiter "come back when you have an example of an MGTOW who isn't a misandrist or incel" Glad you mentioned that because, A Voice for Men is that AND it is a big community of MRAs. Also Erin Pizzey who built the first women's shelters but was thrown out of feminist movement and threatened when she advocated making men's shelters. Also Christina Hoff Sommers whose books feminists burned. by the way, also a former feminist. Even the founder of A Voice for Men was a feminist and turned MRA. Also the Honey Badgers, a group of female MRAs who have been thrown out of conferences by feminists. None of these people are "incels" or misogynists, all are former feminists and current MRAs.
@princessfromjupiter Those are FORMER feminists. They were kicked out and harassed by feminists. Its like naming Ayan Hisri Ali or Salman Rushdie as an examples of good Muslims.
you do know that both were legal during the 50s. Rape could only be committed against someone you weren't married to, so marital rape was not illegal. Hitting your wife was also not illegal and weirdly encouraged.
@lilaqua i agree that there is no such thing as a marital rape because he's her husband, it's his right to make love with her anytime he wants unless there was some harsh reasons then no...
But in general a wife would love that her husband always make love to her but it's not by force cause it will make him like an animal...
About the beating part, nope i don't encourage it at all because a wife needs her husband to take care of her and protect her, there can be arguments sometimes and shouting but it's very hard to hurt her cause hurting her means hurting himself since they are married, she became a part of him...
What i meant from the 50's are the positive parts and not the negative parts that your showing, such as being a housewife and making her man as a 1st priority and love him from all her heart...
By the way i never knew that beating a woman in the past was legal ans encouraged, that's weird 🤔
so you believe in marital rape? wow please don't marry. The problem is men can just become violent, abusive without notice. It's not making love, it's forcing yourself on someone as a form of 'punishment' or 'domination'
you're awfully idealistic. It's fine if the man is a good person but many aren't and will take advantage given the opportunity. So you'd be happy with your wife tying you up and assaulting you? or drugging you?
@lilaqua yes i don't believe in marital rape because it's weird for a husband to rape his wife since she's his wife, if she have harsh reasons to say no, she will surely make it up later for him, why would he hurt her and force for sex, he's her to keep her dignity and not to make her feel afraid or unsafe...
Rape is committed by a boyriend or strangers not by a husband and if a husband did something like that to his wife while she had harsh reasons to say no then you shouldn't consider him a husband and at this point it's rape...
Men can become violent but a man who loves his wife whom she gave her life for him will be very hard on him to hurt her or beat her, like i said because she's his wife, hurting her means hurting himself...
Also about if i marry or not, it's none od ypur business, you mind your own business 😒

Yes, feminism has a bad name and is so politically charged with misandry that it needs to be changed to something else.
The problem is the radicals have been making their way into the mainstream. They used to be limited to college campuses but now you see them influencing mass media, public education, entertainment and local politics.
I support equal rights, don't get me wrong. But these women need to quit playing the victim card. Victimization might sometimes buy you sympathy but never true respect.
The problem I have with feminism is it tends to throw ALL men under the bus. Most of us are not rapists, pigs, misogynists, etc. But when you start call an otherwise decent guy that you are going to push him in the opposite direction.

No. I think feminism got a bad name from a certain breed of man shrieking constantly about how unfair it is that we expect to be treated like people and that they no longer have the advantages they once used to.
Same kind of man who sits down and cries about how unfair affirmative action is, tbh.
I mean if you're fine with being a weakling with having everything handed to you thats fine, but as far as im concerned this world has no use for incompetent losers like you and the one bitch that agreed with you.
No no I like picking apart the brains of people like this, finding out what makes them tick. People like her make great case studies, basically the only think people like her are good for.
True. It's all about equality between men and women because we're all human, not about killing all men and making a new planet full of women. It's about letting women reach higher levels of society not about how to free your nipples on the street and complaining why men get horny if they see you. Feminists now a day are idiots not feminists
Yes!! It's quite embarrasing for me when I get to talk to such women. They actually don't want want to be treated as equals, they want a special treatment and only talk about feminism when it's convenient.
Actually feminism is supposed to be misandry and masculism or chauvinism is misogyny. What is their point of calling themselves a feminist? Are they saying women are superior to men? We don't claim men are superior to women nowadays so there's no need for you to call yourself a feminist.
Feminism has a lot of meaning. Feminist that hates men, feminist that wants equality that benefits them, feminist that also advocate for men's rights, etc. But the dictionary still remains truthful. Advocacy of women's rights so if you advocate more, it's an indirect misandry since mens issues aren't address.
Yeah. In a way you're completely right. But generally this behaviour comes from female feminist who thinks that all male prove themself as superior and thinks women are not at their level, they're weak. But there are males who are also feminist, so I don't think all men have the same old patriarchal mindset. World is changing, I guess for me it's changing
I think a big part of the controversy is that feminism doesn't mean just one thing. Different people mean very different things by the word "feminism". I've heard a lot of people criticize feminism, but when I ask them why they describe something totally different than the feminism some of my female friends believe in.
Yes and nowadays it's not just a bad name. They grew unchecked and now many of the members of Feminism are misandristic.
This should be an example to everyone, if you make a movement make an effort to stop people from saying they are from your group but doing another thing.

That’s not what she said...
It was that feminism is not the same thing yet some call it “feminism.”
@GeekyGirl16 Yes it is
@GeekyGirl16 Ok, does "Modern Feminism" sound better to you?
Feminism is about empowering women and protecting ourselves, not hating members of your gender.
@GeekyGirl16 May be true... to an extent. But not anymore.

lol, and there's the shrieking now.
This coming from someone who preaches about equality yet cringes at the mere mention of going dutch.
